Gone Fishin

A few weeks ago Creed took Caleb and Papa on a fishing trip. They left for Nolin Lake around 7 that morning and didn't return until 6 that evening. Yes, Caleb was on the boat for around 8 to 9 hours!! But, they all had a blast, caught enough fish for a really yummy dinner, and had lots of stories to tell. Apparently Caleb loved playing with the meal worms and thought it would be fun to stuff his pockets pull of them. Silly boy!

After they got home, Caleb was so excited to show Luke all the fish they caught that day. (Poor Creed- he was up cleaning fish until after 10 pm!) 

While they were on the boat Caleb looked at Luke and said "Can you believe that I was on this boat ALL day?!!"

Luke Lately...

Lately Luke has enjoyed lots of Jeep rides with his big brother...

started to accumulate the summertime booboos,

forced his mother to spend hours in the play tent, (it's that smile that does it!)

and has taken advantage of his neighbors' really cool tools. 

As Luke says, "Dig, dig dig!"

Visiting Uncle Luke

A few weeks ago we headed to Lexington to visit Uncle Luke at UK. It was a really pretty day so we decided to have a picnic at the park. Brianna came too, although I somehow didn't get a single picture of her and the boys. 

Before heading to the park, I drove Caleb through campus and showed him the places that Mommy and Daddy lived. He thought it was just crazy that I had lived in an apartment with Miss Nikki and Miss Ashley, while Creed had lived with both Matt and Andy. I think one of his comments were "So your friends just married Daddy's friends?!!" 

After we played for a few hours at the park, Uncle Luke took us back to his dorm room so the boys could really see where he spends his time. Caleb was so funny, and had SO many questions!  While it doesn't seem like that long ago since I lived in those same dorm rooms, I think I aged myself when I mentioned that Napster was the big thing our freshman year. ;)

We're In Trouble...

This guy is going to keep us on our toes...(and keep us laughing!)

This is how I found him one morning last week. I noticed that the house was quiet (which is never a good sign) and immediately began looking for him. Caleb's room was dark (lights out and black out shades dark), the playroom was empty, and he wasn't in his room. As I started to panic, I heard a noise from Caleb's room. I looked again, and this time noticed that the closet door was open. Upon further inspection, I found Luke sitting in the dark closet, gorging himself on Caleb's secret stash of candy.
A long time ago we decided to store Caleb's Pez dispensers in a storage bin in his closet so he could play with them. And over time, Caleb had added his treats to the bin as well. Apparently Luke spotted the bin and decided to help himself. Can I just add that Caleb would have never done that as a two year old. We're in for it. ;)

Headed Home

While the ride home from NC seemed to take forever, it was a pretty uneventful trip. We were able to stop in Charleston and visit with Papa Bill and GG, which is always nice. At one point during the drive Caleb said he was so, so, so, so, so, so, so tired and was asleep within minutes. Luke, on the other hand, struggled a bit more. Seven hours into our trip he became fussy, and finally fell asleep near Frankfort. :) But, he did keep himself busy with lots and lots of snacks.

A Last Egg Hunt

During the boys' nap time, Grandma Beth hid some Easter eggs in the backyard and they boys were so excited when they found out! It was our last day there, and the sun finally came out that afternoon, which made it so much nicer.

I finally talked Luke into gathering his eggs and then opening them all at once. :)

Knowing Caleb's slight obsession with Star Wars, she found Darth Vader shaped eggs.

We had such a great spring break in NC and can't wait to go back again. Thanks for everything, PeePaw and Grandma Beth!!!!

The Winston-Salem Children's Museum

After breakfast at Krispy Kreme, we decided to check out the children's museum. I was totally shocked- it was amazing! There were so many things for the kids to do and while we were there for hours, there were still a few things we didn't check out. While Caleb's favorite was the pretend Krispy Kreme factory, Luke loved shopping at the Food Lion.

Caleb took his job very seriously. There were a few other kids in this area and they each did their own part on the assembly line. I was so impressed with their communication and patience!

After the donuts were packaged, Caleb would run them to Luke so he could make the deliveries. :)

I found out that the Junior League of Winston-Salem organized the funding and the building of the museum. Any Louisville members want to take up a similar project?!! ;)

Krispy Kreme & The King

Since Krispy Kreme started in Winston-Salem, we had to take the boys for a donut breakfast. They were amazed with the process.

Imagine our surprise to find Richard Petty there, signing autographs for a fundraiser. 

He explained to the boys that he was "The King" on the movie Cars, which Caleb was pretty impressed by. (Although, bless his heart, but he just couldn't figure out how he was "in" the cartoon movie.)

Someone downed a warm donut before we were finished ordering...
