First Bottle

A week and a half ago Luke had his very first bottle. I knew we should probably go ahead and make sure he would take one, and thankfully, he downed 5 ounces like a pro! Daddy and Big Brother took the time to give it to him. How sweet is that?!!

2 Months

Wow Luke...it is SO incredibly hard to believe that you are already TWO months old! Where has the time gone?! You are such a wonderful baby. Sweet and content are the two words that best describe your little personality. You very rarely cry, are full of huge smiles, and love to "talk." Today at your check up you weighed 11 pounds, 2 ounces and were 22 and 3/4 inches long. The doctor said you were doing great but we need to work on getting you to sleep on your right side. Apparently you prefer your left, and it's evident from the shape of your head! You HATED getting your shots and cried most of the afternoon today. But by this evening you were back to your normal self. You are still eating every 3 hours during the day and go between 5 and 6 hours at night. The biggest news of the week is that you started sleeping in your crib on Saturday night! I was so sad to see you leave our room but I know it's better for you. During the day I try to get you to nap at least once in your crib, then usually you nap in your swing or car seat if we are on the go. Speaking of your car seat...you're not a fan. It always makes you spit up and you'll only sleep if the car is moving. Heavy traffic and stop lights are challenging! You have recently decided that you like holding and snuggling with a blankie. One sure fire way to get you to fall asleep is to cover part of your face with your blankie...you are asleep instantly!

But you wont sleep that way for long...You still jump and startle yourself very easily, so a tight swaddle in your Miracle Blanket is a must.

Luke, I can't begin to explain how much I have enjoyed these past two months with you. You have brought more joy to your Daddy's and my life than I could have ever imagined. You big brother loves you so much and you are already fascinated with him. You are the perfect addition to our family. We love you buddy!

Hunting Eggs

After church we had a wonderful brunch with Grandpa's side of the family. With so many little ones there, it wasn't long before the egg hunt began! Even though it has rained and rained and rained, the kids stayed relatively mud free!

Easter Morning

We had a wonderful Easter and hope you all did as well. That morning we gave the boys their Easter baskets and Creed and Caleb read his new Easter book about Jesus. Caleb also had a few sweet treats (his first Push Pop!) and Luke just smiled all morning. It took a while to get all 4 of us ready and out the door for church, but it was so worth it! Nothing can top the worship service on Easter Sunday!

Eggs

Last week Caleb and I had so much fun dyeing Easter eggs! He was very patient as the dye tablets dissolved in the vinegar and was amazed when the eggs changed color.

Grandpa's Chicks

About a month ago Grandpa showed Caleb the eggs he got and explained what the incubator was. A little over a week ago the eggs began hatching, and Caleb was very interested in seeing the chicks!

Basketball & Cousins

Last week Baby Luke got to go to his first basketball game. Uncle Luke and his friends are on a team at Hoops and they have games on Tuesday nights. While I can't put hair bows or cute dresses on my baby boy, I can make sure that his bibs are occasion appropriate! It's my way of accessorizing!

Caleb also had fun last week too. While my aunt and uncle went on an anniversary vacation, Caroline spent time at Grandma's house, which meant she and Caleb got to spend a lot of time together. They are so cute- they play and interact so well now. Their favorite thing is to simply run circles around Grandma's house. While she may be petite, she is one tough cookie, and I predict will give Caleb a run for his money!

Figuring Him Out

Have I mentioned how quickly these past 7 weeks have gone by?!! The fastest of my life for sure! I've loved getting to know Luke, learning more about his personality each day. It has taken a while, but I am starting to really figure him out. Take for example stroller rides...He did not like (hated is a better description) riding in his car seat in the stroller. But he really, really seems to enjoy riding like a big boy.

Luke suffers from some tummy troubles, like many babies, and we've found that pressure on his tummy really seems to help him relax. We have to keep a very close eye on him though. In this position he pushes with his feet and comes over the top of the pillow!

While Luke is a truly amazing night time sleeper, he struggles to get in good naps unless he is in his swing or wrapped up in Mommy's arms! Who can blame him, though?! :)

Luke, 6 weeks old

Apparently he and his big brother have at least one thing in common: a love for ceiling fans!

(I had to laugh when I looked at these pictures...Does everyone else with babies have to always have a burp cloth under their baby??? I was shocked that Caleb wasn't wearing a bib in this picture! And Luke's bib...a hand me down from Caleb!)

Bass Pro Shops

Last week Creed and I asked Caleb what he wanted to do on Thursday (Creed's day off). His response, "Bass Pro Shops!" It was Luke's first trip, so I made sure to take some pictures. Caleb's favorite part is always riding the elevator up and down, so we took a few trips. We then picked up lunch and had a picnic by the river. It was such a nice day, and Caleb also loved playing on the playground down there. We ended our trip with a stop at our favorite ice cream shop! Luke's first trip!

Busy at Work

Caleb loves to play "work" at my desk. He likes to get out paper, a pencil, and usually some stickers. It actually will keep him busy for a pretty long period of time, which is great these days!

A GREAT Suprise!

On Friday afternoon I got a call from PeePaw asking if we had any weekend plans. He knew Creed was going to be gone fishing all weekend and asked if he could come and visit. Of course!!! Caleb was SO excited when I told him and loved every minute of time spent with his PeePaw this weekend. They are big buddies!

Baby Days

Oh, how I am enjoying these days home with my boys! I feel so lucky that I'll be home with them until August, and then I'll only be working two days a week, which I think will be just perfect. Luke is definitely my buddy, and I love that I know every single little thing about him. I know what each cry means and the best way to meet each of his needs. I know how he likes to be held and rocked, where he will sleep best for each nap, and how to keep him from crying (most of the time) during diaper changes. I feel like I am enjoying these baby days so much more than I did with Caleb- probably because I now know how quickly they pass by. And this time, I am not rushing anything! With Caleb I was always excited for the next stage, and looking back I don't think I appreciated things as much as I should have during the moment...Does that make sense?

So, I am loving our routines that we follow on most days at home. After Luke eat, he likes to lay on his back and look around. (Being still also helps to minimize the amount he spits up too, and that is always a plus!)

He also likes his play mats and really seems to notice all the bring colors. So far tummy time hasn't gone too well because it immediately causes him to spit up... which turns into the hiccups...which makes him really upset.

Preschool

While I know preschool at two years old isn't a must, I am so thankful that Caleb goes! He loves his teacher, loves that the "boys" (Uncle Luke and the junior basketball players) come and visit him on their way to class, loves singing in Chapel on Wednesdays, and loves to show us what he made each day. He is always so excited to tell me what snack he had, if he got to go outside, and which "boys" showed up at his door. I love the giant bear hugs and kisses that his teacher gives him and the reassurance that he is in good hands! A few weeks ago was Grandparents Day at school, and was Caleb ever excited about that! Grandmom, Grandpa, and Grandma were able to come this year, and we all teased my Mom that she had a kid in the same school she was attending Grandparent's Day!
