New Big Red Bed

Monday evening, with the help of Grandma and Grandaddy, Creed and
I successfully turned Caleb's toddler bed into a full size bed. Actually,
the manufacturer made it fairly easy, especially considering we were
using the worst set of directions ever written. Since I still have not
decided on his bedding, I took Caleb to Walmart earlier that day and
let him pick out his sheets....hence the "New Big Red Bed," as he calls it.

One of his first comments: "Two pillows!"

SO excited!

All tucked in and ready for bed. So far, he is doing great! Monday

he slept all night and last night he only woke up once. Hopefully that

will continue!

Picnic

The other evening while Daddy was playing golf, Caleb got to

enjoy a Happy Meal picnic in the living room. Pardon his facial

expression...that's what he now does when you ask him to smile.

Baby Cake Update

**18 Weeks**

Baby Cake and I are both doing well. Cake moves like crazy,

and I just adore all of those little kicks and jabs! I first felt them

at week 15, but since week 16 they are a constant throughout

the day. At first I was only feeling them if I was still and laying

down. Now I am reminded of this little one all day, and I just

love it! Creed has even had the chance to fell them on a few

occasions!

My nauseousness has subsided and I have most, if not all, of

my energy back. I've been working hard on Caleb's room...we

are transitioning him from a toddler bed to a full size bed this

week, hoping that goes well. By moving him up we are going to

be able to use his crib mattress, glider, and ottoman in the

baby's room. Now if I could only find reasonably priced nautical

sheets!

Just think...one week from today we will know if Cake is a baby

boy or baby girl! We're SUPER excited...let the countdown

begin!

Swimming

Caleb enjoyed every second of PeePaw's visit, especially those
spent in Marshma & Papa's pool! We are just enjoying these last
summer days, although considering it was in the mid 90s today,
I'm not sure it will ever end!

The Park with PeePaw

One morning while PeePaw was here we went to the park to
enjoy the cooler weather. Caleb loved going down the slides,
swinging high up in the sky, and feeding the ducks. It's always
so much fun when PeePaw's in town!

We forgot to bring a towel and Caleb wasn't happy about

getting so wet on the slide. He kept telling me that he needed

to take his wet shirt off. I promised him it would dry and he

went on playing. (His t-shirt was one of Creed's Father's Day

presents..."My Dad Can OUTFISH You Dad!" Love it!)

It's a good thing PeePaw was there because I would have

never let those ducks get so close...notice how far I am

standing!

Again

Caleb wore PeePaw out with the "Bump Ball" this visit. All he'd
say was "Again!"





At this point PeePaw pushes Caleb up in the air then
catches him before he falls. So much fun!

Gaslight Parade

Last Thursday we took Caleb to the annual Gaslight Parade. The
weather could not have been any better and we all had a great
time. Caleb enjoyed a hot dog and LOTS of candy. It's hard to tell
your two year old "No" when people keep handing him candy!

Caleb thought he'd support Christine Ward, not just because

she goes to our church, but also because she handed out

full sized Air Heads.

Never Long Enough

We had to take PeePaw to the airport this afternoon, and even
though he has been here since Wednesday afternoon, the visits
are just never long enough!




Caleb LOVED having his PeePaw (He started calling him
"Dad" since that's what he heard me say!) here and we are
all looking forward to his next visit in 5 weeks! Many more
pictures to come...

After Dinner Treat

Last week Caleb and I met Erika and Ava at Jason's Deli for dinner
AND dessert. Gotta love Jason's free soft serve...

Everyone keeps asking if I "feel" like I am having a boy or a girl...
Honestly, I don't "feel" either way, and didn't "feel" a certain way
about Caleb. Now, I can guess one way or the other, and I'm
fairly certain I have about a 50% chance of getting that right. It's
easier for me to refer to the baby as "he," but that's simply
because I am used to saying "he" with Caleb. While Creed, Caleb,
and even Nikki are all fairly certain it's a girl, I just don't know!
This pregnancy is TOTALLY different than Caleb's so maybe
that matters. Maybe the fact that I need orange juice every morning
matters. Or maybe the heartbeat in the 140s matters. Who knows?!
I guess we'll just have to wait! But, just for fun...

Baby Cake Update

Today I had my 16 weeks checkup, and this time Caleb tagged
along. While he was really well behaved while we waited, he didn't
like that Dr. Simpson was checking me out and told her to "Go
away." Repeatedly! I explained that it wasn't nice to say that and
how he should thank her for letting him hear the baby's heartbeat.
So he looked up at her and politely said, "Thank you baby heartbeat.
Go away." Oh well.

So far, Cake is measuring right on schedule and his/her heartbeat
was in the 140s. (I looked back in Caleb's book and at 16 weeks his
was in the 150s.) At 16 weeks, Cake's average size should be about
that of an avocado.

Just think...exactly three weeks from today we will finally know
if Cake is going to be wearing blue or pink!

Best Boy Ever

Caleb was so good at his latest hair cut. Christi told him that he was

the "best boy ever." Wouldn't you be in you had that sucker?!! She

was also teasing me about how much we are going to end up spending

on Caleb's hair cuts over the years. Considering he goes every 8 weeks,

and I still have to trim it at about 6 weeks, I'd say she's right! I predict a

buzz cut in our future!

Just Like Home

While checking out the Thomas the Train sale at Toys R Us this
week, I came across the brand "Just Like Home" and I knew that
Caleb would L-O-V-E it. It was buy one, get one 50% off, so I
had to pick up two items. We got the coffee maker and microwave
and that afternoon he played for OVER TWO HOURS! The
microwave is so cute...he has different foods to choose from then
sets the time on the microwave accordingly. When he presses
"start" it makes a noise and the food spins around on the plate. Plus
it beeps when it's ready. SO cute. But...the coffee maker is our
favorite. You pour water in it and he pushes a button for it to then
go in the pot. It makes a realistic noise and everything!

It cracks me up that he knows to pour the creme in the coffee

because neither Creed or I use it.

Happy Birthday, Daddy Joe!

On Friday evening we all went to Rick & Sharon's house to celebrate
Daddy Joe's birthday. Caleb had fun running around with Eli, Ava,
and Reagan, and he especially loved Eli's bouncy house that he
brought! After Caleb finally talked everyone into eating cake, Aunt
Sharon let him put the candles on. He worked for a few a minutes,
carefully placing each candle around the outside of the writing, making
sure not to mess up the icing. We might have a little "Cake Boss" on
our hands! :)

New Bed

Caleb is so excited to show off his "new bed" as he calls it, although
all we did was turn his crib into a toddler bed. We did it last weekend
on a trial run basis (only 4 screws and we could have the side back
on!) but he did so great that it looks like it's here for good.

So excited!

At night he is excited to climb in on his own and when he wakes up

he calls for us and waits to get out until we tell him he can. So far

so good! Hopefully we'll have it turned into a full size bed before

February!
