Our Week

We've had a busy week...

Last Saturday Caleb went to the Fowler family reunion with Grandma Kathy, Erika, and Ava. He had a blast!

While Caleb was gone this little someone decided that he could totally handle wearing underwear!

 Luke has worn underwear at home since last Saturday morning and has only had two accidents in them! When we leave the house he wears his "pull up underwear," because I am not ready to take him to public restrooms.

Caleb went on his first field trip last Tuesday. I met him at Mr. Gatti's (It was a literacy field trip, but ended with pizza and games.) and he was a happy camper. He said the bus ride "was so bumpy!"

With the whole potty training thing going on, Luke and I spent a lot of time at home this week. He did this all on his own!

I am so impressed with Caleb's teacher and all that she has been able to teach him in such a short period of time. They learn three new consonants each week (and apply to the short vowel sounds they learned) and  they always do something fun for each letter. This happened to be "Nn" day. The boys wore neckties and the girls wore necklaces. Some of his other favorite days have been Ll for lollipop licking and Hh for hat day.

(He wore Creed's tie all day- even all the playground!) 

First School Project

Caleb had a little over two weeks to find, cut out, and glue pictures that started with each letter of the alphabet. 

We think he did a great job!

Recently...

Caleb insisted on wearing his "Go Cards!" shirt for the game last weekend, so little brother had to join in as well.  

Luke gets into everything these days. I even found him on the counter last week helping himself to some candy corn. (Caleb would have never done that!)

The boys like having dance parties before bed and these glasses were all Luke's idea.

Caleb's Phonics Lesson

Last week I had the opportunity to visit Caleb's classroom for a phonics demonstration. All parents were invited and his teacher explained how she teaches phonics, demonstrated strategies she uses, and gave the parents materials so that we can support our child's learning at home.

After the lesson it wasn't quite time to pick up Luke so Caleb and I ran across the street to grab lunch at his favorite place, Subway. We both loved our lunch date!

He insisted that I take a picture of us with his sandwich in the shot! Silly guy!

Tacos

I usually cook between four and five nights a week, and try to make dinners that the boys will eat at least two of those nights. I found that I can always count on Caleb to eat tacos, as long as I use "mild" seasoning. 

Luke is another story...this guy is such a funny eater. Most nights he only eats the fruit and raw veggies (he doesn't like cooked vegetables) and will taste a bite or two of other things we are having. However, he always spits ground beef bites out and refuses to eat anything with ground beef in it. Having said that, I still always offer him the meat, hoping that one day he'll change his mind. 

Well, that one day happened! This guy ate an entire taco like it was his job! I was shocked, to say the least. Shocked enough to grab my phone to take picture evidence. (Watch- next time I make tacos he won't touch it!)

The Fair

Back in August we went to the fair one evening with Grandmom and Grandpa. The boys had a blast and we all ate our fill of healthy fair food- ha!

Tuesday Morning Fun

Tuesday mornings, Luke and I get to spend lots of time together while big brother is at school. 

There are rewards for good behavior (staying in stroller, no yelling, etc.) while shopping...

A Picnic in the Park

These boys love the park and they love having a picnic in the park. They were a little bummed out though that the ice cream truck didn't come by this time. ;)

45 Minutes Later...

Luke was SO determined to make this tower happen that he worked for 45 minutes on it. In fact, I took Caleb upstairs last night for his shower and to get him ready for bed while Luke continued to work on his tower. His big temper flared each time that it fell ("No! No, snack!") but he stayed focused and got it to stand. I'm impressed...maybe I should break out the Jinga game!

Labor Day Weekend at Claytor Lake

We just came back from another amazing trip to visit PeePaw and Grandma Beth at Claytor Lake. We had SO MUCH FUN tubing, skiing, surfing, fishing, floating, boating, eating, and just being with family that we actually extended our trip an extra day. Who could blame us?!!

Caleb is a total lake rat and would have spent every minute either on the tube or riding the jet ski if we would have let him. His favorite phrase: Full throttle! And while Luke spent some time on the dock and on the boat (usually found with a snack in his hands), he preferred to spend time up in the house with Marshma and Papa.
