The Polar Express Train Ride

Last Sunday we caught the 5:30 train out of French Lick, Indiana and headed straight to the North Pole!

That's right, we got to experience The Polar Express! The Polar Express is one of our favorite Christmas movies, and Caleb loves going around singing the "hot chocolate" song. We thought the boys would love taking the "magical train ride," and it turned out to be pretty great.

Notice his robe...Yes, he wanted to get a blue robe to wear because that's what the boy in the movie wears.

It was a pretty warm day but unfortunately, it was raining/misting while we were waiting to get on so I wasn't able to take many pictures.

Checking out his ticket

We were so excited to hear the "All Aboard" so we could get out of the rain on the train!

It was difficult to keep them occupied before the ride began. Next year I'll bring snacks. :)

They were very intrigued when the train began moving. (And they both sat still for a few moments.)

Getting his ticket punched

Hot Chocolate!
We loved all the singing and dancing "elves," just like in the movie.

Since the hot chocolate scene in the movie is his favorite part, he was SO happy to get his own cup...

and a cookie too!

Luke was happy to dance with the pretty elves. Caleb, on the other hand, was quick to point out that they were not real elves because they were "big ladies" and real elves are little.

All the kids rushed the right side of the train so they could get a glimpse of the North Pole. We stopped for a short moment and then guess who climbed aboard...

SANTA! He gave each of the boys a bell and commented that Caleb should check his pocket in his robe to make sure there wasn't a hole in it. (A scene from the movie!)

Keeping a watchful eye on Santa

Love his mesmorized look as he watched Santa

On the way back to the station, the elves sang and danced, and again, Luke was right in the middle of it!

It really was a neat experience and I was shocked at how many people were there without kids! Hopefully this can become one of our traditions!
