Fun at Grandma's

Today we went to my grandparents house to visit with family
and EAT. (Grandma hosted Thanksgiving for the Blacketer
side of the family so we had leftovers for lunch. Then, as if that
wasn't enough, we had steak for dinner.) Caleb loved playing
with all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Caleb loved played with cousin Emma- we just wish
she lived closer so she could babysit!

Happy Thanksgiving

Each year Creed's aunt Terry cooks an AMAZING feast
for Thanksgiving. There are so many delicious things to
choose from (my favorite this year was the soup!) and they
always fry a turkey-if you have never tasted fried turkey...
you are missing out! It was also great getting to see family
that we haven't seen since last Thanksgiving. It was last
Thanksgiving that Creed announced to his family that we
were expecting! My how things have changed over the past
year! :)

I'd say those are some proud great-grandparents!

Hanging out with cousins Blair and William

Saying good-bye to uncle Monty before the journey
back home.

We are so thankful for our wonderful family and friends!
It was great getting to see everyone (We MISSED you
Papa Joe & Grandma Kathy!) and look forward to next
Thanksgiving.

I hope you all had a wonderful day as well!

11 P.M.

To celebrate Thanksgiving, we headed over to Charleston,
WV to visit Creed's family. We had a GREAT time and
enjoyed every minute, especially those minutes around
midnight.(note the sarcasm!) On Wednesday night, Caleb
woke up at 11 after going to sleep at 8. Apparently he saw
that as nap time, because as the pictures show, he was
ready to go.

After a few minutes of WILD jumping, Caleb wore down
and was FINALLY ready for bed. Whew!

Meet Baylee

Meet the newest member of the family...Baylee Beck Clayton.
Baylee is my cousin, Brittany and her husband, David's first
child. She is a beautiful, healthy baby girl, who takes after Caleb
in the hair department. Since Caleb has a stuffy nose, we didn't
get a picture of them together. But, I'm sure we'll have time for
that when they are running around together in the future.

Congrats Brittany & David!

It's hard to even remember Caleb being that small!

Whatever it takes

One thing that I have learned from being a parent is that you
must be resourceful. You learn to turn spoons into toys at
restaurants and you can make anything into a song. I've tapped
my brakes at stop lights to keep the car moving and even sung
"The Itsy Bitsy Spider" (fairly loud) in the dressing room at The
Limited.

While I was getting ready today, I ran out of ideas...Caleb played
in his bouncy seat while I took a shower. When that was taking
too long, I had to sing "Apples & Bananas". (Caleb's favorite: "I
like to oat, oat, oat, opples and banonos.") While I was getting
dressed and drying my hair, he laid on the floor and played with
his alphabet ball. I ended up singing "The Ants Go Marching." (It
takes SKILL to march and act out the parts while drying your hair,
I might add!) Finally, this is what we had to resort to while I put
on my makeup...

I was happy because he quit fussing and I didn't have to
sing. He was happy because he could watch me put on
makeup and stare at his reflection in the mirror. It was a
win-win situation!

Mirror, Mirror on the...

highchair. After Caleb ate his dinner last night, I put some
toys on his highchair to keep him busy while I cleaned up the
kitchen. I noticed Caleb making faces in the mirror and
laughing at himself, so I tried to catch him in the moment. I
got a few good shots...

(Amazed at the cuteness of his own reflection- notice
the open mouth!)

...until he caught me!

Only with Uncle Luke...

...would Caleb wear this hat! Thanks Luke for helping
babysit Caleb while Creed & I went out for my birthday.

Nice to meet ya!

Caleb was so excited to finally meet Jon & Lucy yesterday!
Jon and Creed have been friends since middle school, and he
and his wife, Lucy, moved to Oregon for their residency before
Caleb was born. We are so happy that we got to hang out, and
look forward to their next visit!

Up for anything

We are so lucky that when it comes to food, Caleb is up for
anything. His favorite food so far is squash, but he really
enjoyed green beans last night. Yesterday I decided to give
some teething biscuits a try. I wasn't sure how he'd respond
to the new taste and texture, but judging from the pictures, I
think he liked it.

Caleb also likes drinking water out of his big boy sippy cup!

Happy 5 Months

Today is officially Caleb's 5 month birthday!

To celebrate, his first tooth decided to pop through today!
It is tiny- just barely through the skin, but it's there. Caleb
was in my lap (we were watching Wheel of Fortune-our
favorite) when he put my finger in his mouth. I was shocked
to feel something pointy on his bottom gum, and immediately
pried his mouth open to check things out. And there it was!

I tried unsuccessfully to get a picture of it to share, but I'll
keep trying.

Have a great weekend!

Our family

Today was a special day...Creed and I celebrated our
third wedding anniversary. It is amazing to think of the
changes that have taken place in our family over the
past three years- we've moved from Lexington to
Louisville, changed jobs, built a home, and had a child.
While it has been crazy at times, it has been a
wonderful three years, and I've loved watching our
family grow!

Caleb was so excited today to spend time with Papa

Growing Spurt?
