Dinner with a View
Thursday afternoon PeePaw and Grandma Beth arrived in town to some very, very excited little boys! (Actually, we were all excited to see them!) We decided to have dinner on the river at Rocky's before making a quick, but much needed (HA!), stop at Bass Pro Shops. The weather was so beautiful and the view was simply perfect. The boys loved sitting outside and we all enjoyed a relaxing and yummy dinner.

Our Walker
On Thursday, April 26th, Luke began to really walk, making his way across the kitchen. He was 14 months and one day to be exact. Daddy and Caleb were home to witness and I can only imagine the look on their faces. While he still prefers to crawl at his super fast pace, he is becoming more confident as he takes steps.

Fest-a-Ville
Thursday evening we headed down to the opening of The Chow Wagon at Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront. We also met Grandma Kathy, Aunt Erika, and Ava down there. Caleb and Ava loved riding all the little rides and baby Luke just enjoyed being outside, taking it all in. We sure love being in Louisville for all the Derby festivities.
On Thursday while I was at work Creed texted me that Luke started walking! While he's been taking up to 4 or 5 steps before sitting down, he decided to walk all the way across the kitchen and from the kitchen to the living room. I'm still trying to get a good video of our little walker, and as soon as I do I'll post it!

The Next Iron Chef
I saw on a blog this great idea to let kids "cook" and I immediately knew Caleb would love it. Last rainy Saturday I set up his ingredients and tools, and he went to work. TWO HOURS later I explained it was time to clean up. I refilled his water, and added more ingredients at one point, but other than that he was cooking on his own- happy as could be. I was able to use up some spices and condiments that were close to expiration and learned what not to use due to the strong smell (dill)! And, sprinkles are a must, as they turn the "food" to a bright, distinctive color. We've actually done this two more times over the past week and each time he's played for at least 1 1/2 hours before I've called it quits. I also love that he is learning the names of different spices and their smells. He's our little Bobby Flay!

Toy Story on Ice
Last Sunday, Creed & I took Caleb to Toy Story on Ice at Rupp Arena. Thankfully, Grandmom and Grandpa kept baby Luke because I can't imagine wrangling him on my lap the whole time! The show was great (I LOVE Toy Story and the Barbie scene was great!) and Caleb Buzz Lightyear had a great time. He sat perfectly still, eyes glued to the ice the entire time. All in all it was the perfect afternoon with our big guy. (I took my camera to use for the first time in forever and of course, the memory card was full, so sorry for the phone pics- again!)
It was also GREAT to see this for the first time...

14 Months
Luke Michael, YOU are 14 Months old today! You are so stinkin' cute and rotten! Wild, sweet, busy, strong, cuddly, determined, and short tempered are words I'd use to describe your BIG personality these days. You love your big brother, wrestling, and getting into things that you shouldn't. You also love to climb and "fall" off your slide on purpose. You are a champion sleeper (one or two naps a day depending on our schedule and 12 hours+ at night w/o waking!) and a great eater, although you are becoming a little picky.
Recent Milestones...
You say 4 words that we know of for sure: Momma, Dada, Snack, and Grandaddy, but babble all the time.
You waved bye bye (to Aunt Paige) yesterday for the first time.
You have 4 spaces left in your mouth full of teeth. (Two top and two bottom on each side.)
You are capable of taking 3-4 steps, but as soon as you realize that you're walking, you immediately sit down.
Stuck in the kitchen sink
You are now officially a fit thrower! Your fits usually revolve around 2 things: food or your brother's toys. At Walmart this week you went ballistic when I wouldn't let you eat a banana in the produce aisle. (I'd already opened the cereal box for you to munch on!) And, this is what happens when you snatch a toy that Caleb is playing with and I give it back to him...
Luke, you are such a funny and lovable little guy. Watching you grow and develop is so rewarding and we love, love, love you, sweet boy!

Recently...
Life has been busy these days. I am finishing up an online graduate class, which means I've been working a lot during nap times instead of cleaning, preparing dinner, etc. I also worked an extra day this week- trying to get in as much time with my students before (the dreaded) testing that I can. (I don't know how moms that work full time outside the home find the time to get everything accomplished, although I guess it's whatever you get used to...) So, needless to say the laundry piled up this week and Rhett has had plenty of crumbs off the kitchen floor. ;)
But we have managed to still have some fun. This is the response I got when I said "Boys, look at Mommy! Smile!" Ha.
We also enjoyed the beautiful weather Thursday evening with a dinner out at Chuy's. I told the hostess that she'd want him (pointing to Luke) to sit outside, so thankfully we got the last available patio seat. Both boys were actually really good, though, and the food was great.
And this... Luke L-O-V-E-S to play in the playroom and is so incredibly content that he requires no attention. He goes from one toy to the next, as happy as could be. However, while he may not need attention, he does still require supervision. I was busy checking emails, etc. when Caleb gasped, "Mommy- Luke's on the train table!" Yep. Not sure how long he'd been there, although you'll notice he was still as content as could be. :)

Movie Date
Last week Marshma and Papa took Caleb to see the new Dr. Seuss movie, The Lorax. While they were not too impressed with the movie (ha!), Caleb loved every second- especially the popcorn, Sprite, and sour gummies! He also loved spending time with two of his very favorite people in the world. He sure is glad to have them back in town!!! (We are too!)
