Open House

Last week Caleb tagged along as I went to Open House at my
school. Since I don't have a classroom, we got to walk around
and check everything out. Caleb loved running up and down the
long hallways- by the time we left he was a sweaty mess! One
of his favorite parts of the night was getting to look at bugs in
Mrs. Warren's second grade class...

Why buy toys?

To Grandmother's House We Go!

My grandparents live in a neighborhood that connects to ours.
It's a quick walk, less than 10 minutes, and something we do
frequently. Usually Caleb rides in his car or wagon, but tonight
we all decided to walk to Grandma and Grandaddy's house.

Tonight it definitely took more than 10 minutes...Caleb

stopped to pick up rocks, sticks, and even walk though

a few sprinklers.

It's a lot of steps for those little legs

Notice Anything??

Hey everyone? It's me, Caleb! Notice anything new about
me?!! Look carefully...


Hopefully you noticed how happy I am waking up in my bed!
You may have also noticed that I don't have any more
passies- That's right...I went from sleeping with 3 to 0!

Sunday night Mom and Dad were talking about a trial run, just
to see how I would do without them. (I was in the bath, but they
always talk like I can't hear them!) I knew they weren't serious-
Mom even said that if I cried she didn't care, she was giving it
to me.

One thing about me...I like to do the opposite of what Mom and
Dad think I'll do. I like to keep them guessing...keep them on
their toes. It's like a game to me.

So, when they put me in my bed, I looked around for my passies,
even though I already knew they wouldn't be there. Mom said,
"Your passie's are all gone!" And Dad said the same thing.
Yeah right, I knew they were in the dresser. Anyways, you should
have seen the look on their faces when I laid down and didn't
shed a tear. Priceless!

I slept all night without them. No big deal. Nap the next day was
a little bummer without them, but I had to keep my cool. Mom
and Dad are still amazed. They can't figure it out!

Hmmm, what can I prove them wrong on next?!!!

Perfect Afternoon

With the great weather we have been having these past few
weeks, we've spent a lot of time outside. While Caleb loves
taking walks, he also has taken interest in bubbles and
sidewalk chalk.

Picking dirt from the groove in the sidewalk. He doesn't

like anything out of place!

Denial

I realize Halloween costumes are out in the stores, and today, I
even saw Christmas pajamas at Toys R Us. But I must say
that we are in denial that summer is coming to an end. I know
it's Labor Day weekend, and school has already started back,
but we are still in summer mode for sure. That includes running
in the sprinkler, chasing bubbles in the driveway without shoes,
eating popsicles, and playing half naked in the sand box...

One of Caleb's favorite things is to bury Elmo and then

find him again. He gets excited every time!

"Airplane!" (Actually, he is saying "aye," which is

what he calls everything that he can't say. He might

be Canadian.)

Hungry Bear

Oh, Where?

Oh, where, oh, where, has Caleb's hat, socks and the remote
control gone?

In the toy box...silly me!



Looking for his sippy cup of milk? Check the Tupperware
drawer. My cell phone? Look in Caleb's Lego wagon. And
Rhett's dog bone? Well, it's in the Little People Barn. Duh!

Picnic with Mommy

I was a little under the weather last week, so to celebrate me
feeling so much better and the beautiful weather (sunny, mid
70s with a breeze!) today, Caleb and I had a picnic at the
park. I hadn't been to the grocery yet, so Caleb got to enjoy
his first Happy Meal. I had a great time with my little man, and
learned a few things. (I'll explain later.) Caleb also had a great
time (until it was time to go.)

Cheeseburger and fries..."mmmmm" as Caleb would
say.


You gotta have ketchup with fries!


Ketchup sometimes tastes better when you dip your
finger instead of the fry.

He is quickly learning that some meals come with toys!

How is he that dirty?!!


Caleb is always learning, but today, I learned a few things
myself...
1.The workers at McDonalds don't quite understand how
many napkins a toddler needs with ketchup, even when you
request "extra napkins."
2.Strollers are a must, even on a picnic...OR...Caleb isn't a
good enough walker to tackle to uneven grass at the park.
3.The park is dirty. By the time we left, Caleb was covered
in this blackish/brown dirt/dust mix. Yuck. (I'm just glad he
was in jeans and I had baby wipes!)
4.People will stare, and some might even question if I am
kidnapping my child, as he screams, arches his back, and
kicks his legs as I tell him it's time to go and carry him from
the playground and to the car.
5.Don't go anywhere after the park. I had to go to Kroger
and because of lesson learned #3, Caleb was asked by a
produce man, "Have you been changing the oil in your car
today?" Now, I realize my child's jeans were dirty, but is
changing the oil really the first thing that comes to mind?!!

KY State Fair

On Monday (I know I'm a little behind but that's what happens
when I go back to work!) Caleb and I went to the state fair with
our friends Nikki, Madalyn, Ashley, and Jackson. We had a
great time enjoying all the sights, booths, shows, and food.

Watching the horse show- He clapped each time the crowd did!

Fingers crossed that this is the only time he'll ever be in a

police car!

By far, Caleb's FAVORITE part of the day. As I've said

before, Caleb really likes bears these days. When he saw

the dancing bear on stage, he had to run up there for a

closer look.

Guess who was the first child to go up and meet the

bear?!

No fear- He just loves bears!

Apparently the bear got tired so he sat down while

Caleb continued to check him out.
