Labor Day Weekend

We spent Labor Day weekend at Claytor Lake...without PeePaw. He was on-call all weekend and couldn't come, but Grandma Beth came for a day, Uncle Matt stopped by for a day on his way back home, and Uncle Drew actually spent the weekend with us. We also took the Bachmans with us, so it was a blast!

Saturday was cool and rainy, so we spent time indoors. The kids played, put on shows, and spent time in the hot tub while we watched football and ate. :)

While waiting for the girls to show up, Caleb and Luke spent time jumping in the cold lake and then soaking in the hot tub.

It was sunny Sunday so we were out before lunch. Edie preferred the baby pool to the cool lake water. She was such a sweet girl...she didn't fuss or whine once until I think Monday evening!

They paddle boarded

and did some dock jumping.

Clarabelle and Milly are just a few months younger than Luke, so they had a big time together! They are such sweet girls and total lake rats like my boys!

Uncle Drew and his girlfriend Jana took a tube ride and when they were thrown off, they took the tube handles with them. Oops!

Giggles and smiles

That night the kids put on a show. It was classic. Music...dancing...and lots of laughs!

There was even another show the next morning!

Monday was much warmer!

Can you spot Edie?!! The lake provided the perfect white noise!

The grownups got in on the dock jumping! Mid-back flip...

Such a fun weekend and friends and family!
As the girls were leaving, I told them that they should come back again and Milly asked, "Can we come next weekend?" Such a sign of a great weekend, and I think we all wished we would be back!

Just one more...

We had so much fun at Lake Cumberland that we decided to go back the following weekend. We stayed at Jamestown again and enjoyed every second of it! The weather was perfect- sunny and upper 80s...a great final trip to Cumberland this season.

Creed got stuck at work a little later than planned that Friday so it was dark when we got there. Caleb was my spotter and watched for logs in the water. It was my first time driving the boat after dark but we managed to find out slip and get it docked without an issue.

We love the view from our hotel! Caleb was actually watching Uncle Mark and Aunt Cathy take their houseboat out of State Dock.

Love the quote...

Since we had never been to Beaver Creek Marina, we decided to take a ride there and check out their popsicle selection. Popcicles before noon are always a good decision. ;)

That afternoon we met up with Uncle Mark and Aunt Cathy to spend some time on the houseboat. When we got there it was just 5 houseboats in the cove....two hours later there were 22 other boats tied up. It was a blast! Someone brought a LilyPad and the kids loved it.

Not a bad view!

Dinner at Cumberland Tap

We borrowed a knee board, and the next day the boys tried it out...they loved it! Luke got it his first try, and with such a low center of gravity, he was a natural.

It took Caleb a couple of tries, but after he got the feel for it, he was rocking it out.

He even turned and rode backwards! He really has the "feel" for water sports...Santa may need to bring a wake board!

Caleb was also pretty determined to learn to slalom ski. He got so incredibly close, but just couldn't keep his ski straight at this point. I am pretty certain that he will be up with just more more try.

That afternoon Grandmom and Grandpa actually got to the lake so we met them for lunch before heading home.
Nothing beats a great lake weekend!

Visiting the Fair

We went to the fair this year with Grandmom, Grandpa, Aunt Paige, Uncle Luke, Aunt Briana, Grandma, and Grandaddy, and had a great evening. We saw exhibits, animals, ate unhealthy fair food (Looking at you, Uncle Luke!) and rode a few rides.

One thing on Caleb's must see list was the magic show...

Guess who was chosen to come up on stage?!!

Such a fun, fun evening with family!
