Safety First

Luke was insistent that he wore Caleb's helmet as he rode his tricycle. I like his safety first attitude. :)

And, apparently using the lawn mover can be a dangerous task as well. ;)

Technology

It's amazing to watch little ones these days and see how easily they pick up on how to use various devices. Hand Luke a smart phone and he is quick to unlock the screen and start looking through pages. Give Caleb a game (whether its on the computer, a Kindle,  a LeapPad, etc.) and he'll figure out how to operate it. And, I know that most kids are this way now. It's amazing, and a very different world than when we played The Oregon Trail!

Before bedtime the other night...Caleb on a LeapPad and Luke playing the iXL. I just sat and watched, and felt thankful that they were not fighting. :)
Speaking of the ways things have changed, have you seen THIS youtube video? I love it, especially since I am a "child of the 90s."

Recently...

The boys love playing with beans while I make dinner, and surprisingly, most stay on the tray.

I took Luke to KGA last week while Caleb was in school and he had a blast. He loved all the trampolines.

Over the weekend we got to meet baby Alden, my friend Amanda's first little guy. He was so sweet- love his expression in this picture!

While Caleb ignored baby Alden, Luke was very interested in him. Each time Alden cried, Luke froze and just had this very concerned look on his face.

We've actually been able to get out of the house and play outside quite a few times recently. Caleb is a great driver and Luke is just the cutest little passenger ever!

Silly Boy

Luke was running around playing and I just had to take a picture. I grabbed my camera and thankfully, he held still long enough for me to capture the moment.

Pretend headphones.
Golf club.
One rain boot.

I mean, isn't this a normal look?

By the way, I tried to put his other boot on for him. His response: Nuw. (No.)
Apparently one rain boot was the plan, and he was sticking to it.

Like Father, Like Son

These two are such buddies! Caleb loves spending time with his Daddy- No Mommy. No Luke. Just me and Daddy!
They've had quite a few dinner dates lately, lots of donut runs, and many, many games of pirates and hide and seek. They are so alike that sometimes it's scary. And, the older Caleb gets, the more of Creed I see in him.

The Second Child

The other day I was running the vacuum in our entry way and Luke was SO mad because I wouldn't let him through the gate. (Through the gate means he has access to the steps, hall bathroom, and dining room, etc.) He was so incredibly mad that he threw his fit on the gate, jumping up and down on the foot pedal. The same  foot pedal that is used to open the "hands free" gate.

Yes, in that very moment, the gate opened. He was shocked, and actually closed the gate to try again. He stepped back on the foot pedal, jumped, and like magic in his eyes, the gate opened.

It was like someone played Aladdin's, A Whole New World.

While we were taking down the baby gates when Caleb turned two years old, we were scrambling to find a new gate to keep our very active second child contained.

One foot goes up...

Jumping to put all his weight on it...

Got it!

See that smirk start to form...

Eyeing the stairs, thinking about about what to destroy first in Caleb's room.

Don't worry...our new gate is much more durable, even for this second child.

Snow Fun

A few weeks ago we got just enough snow to get the sleds out, and both boys were so excited. Neither complained about cold hands, and I think the fit Luke threw when I made him come inside could be heard in the next neighborhood over. ;)

All smiles, even though he was so bundled up that he could barely move.

Caleb was happy to pull brother around.

When Caleb laid down to make a snow angel, Luke looked at him like he'd lost his mind! It was hilarious!

Luke was brave, and even though me might have taken a few head first spills as he flew down the hill, he was always ready to go again.

Caleb preferred going feet first

Luke LOVED watching Caleb sled down the hill and cracked up laughing every time.

After watching Caleb get to the bottom and pull his sled back up the hill, Luke attempted the same.

And he fell back down. You should have heard his grunts as he pulled with all his might!

And down again.

And he dropped the rope and started up without his sled. That's my boy. ;)

Happy Birthday

Luke's new favorite song is Happy Birthday, although he doesn't sing it to a specific person. He just loves singing it. So, in honor of Marshma and Granny Sue's birthday last week, I thought I'd catch his singing cuteness. Hard not to smile listening to that voice!

Dr. Fowler

Caleb came home from school one day last week as "Dr.Fowler" and was excited to show me his doctor supplies. He gave me a shot, checked my ears and throat, and then gave me another shot "just in case." They had been learning about different careers at school, and he happened to think being a doctor sounded great.

Our Week

We had a great week around here, and hope you did as well!

We took advantage of the warm weather at the beginning of the week and ran quite a few errands, especially while Caleb was at school. Luke didn't mind too much, especially since suckers were involved!

We also made another trip to the Science Center since the boys have so much fun playing together there.

More errands, and thankfully, Old Navy had balloons to share. Luke is OBSESSED with balloons these days, so it was the perfect treat!

Bless Luke's heart but his two year molars are really causing him some trouble. He's had at least two fingers in the back of his mouth for the last few days. I know he'll be glad when the last one breaks through the surface! (Notice the balloon ribbon...that's from a trip to Dollar Tree!)

This week also brought another package from Marshma and Papa, and the boys were SO excited.

Looking good!

Caleb loved his pirate themed package!

Caleb is very timed oriented these days, so a watch was the perfect gift! Thanks, Marshma & Papa!

While the week started with warm weather, it ended with freezing temps and even a little snow. We actually had an (unnecessary) snow day on Friday, but were able to get a little sledding in. More pictures to come!
