Luke's First Movie

Last week we took a break from the pool and decided to see Monster's University. This also happened to be Luke's first movie, so I made sure I went prepared with lots of snacks and sweet treats.

With popcorn, raisins, Coco Puffs, Skittles, and a Tootsie Roll pop, he was ready for the show to start. I am happy to report that he made it through the entire movie, and he seemed to really like it.

Big brother was excited too!
We both love Monsters Inc., so we were excited to see what they prequel had in store.

After the movie.
It was a very successful and fun morning, and we all loved the movie!

Kathryn's Birthday

I found these pictures from Kathryn's 2nd birthday on my phone and realized that I forgot to post them. Nikki did a great job with cute decorations, yummy brunch food, and lots of fun outdoor activities for the kids.

I just love this little one and her feistiness! I also love her adorable birthday dress!

This feisty guy (Yes, he and Kathryn are SO much alike!) loved having a cupcake before noon.

All Things Water

Since returning from the lake earlier this month, we've spent the majority of our time outside. And, with temperatures most days in the mid 90s, we've had a lot of fun with water.

Our church had it's annual Watermelon and Water night and it was SO much fun. They had free food, sprinklers, kiddie pools, dunking booths, and the biggest slip and slides you have ever seen. I can't wait til next year- I'll be in my suit so I can participate too!

We also played one evening on our slip and slide at home. While it wasn't quite as big at the one at church, (ha!) the kids had a blast. And, our yard has almost recovered.

My wonderful mother kept the boys for a while that morning and look what Luke came home with...a lovely lower back tattoo. Thanks, Mom. ;)

We had our neighbors over one evening for a last minute cookout and decided to let the kids play with water balloons after dinner. What started with the kids throwing water balloons ended with buckets of water being thrown by the adults. Not sure how Creed was the only one in trunks..

We met up with friends last week at the sprayground at Long Run Park and had a blast! We were there for a long time and the kids played so hard.

We've spent so many days at the pool this summer, now that both boys love going there. It's the perfect way to beat the heat! We try to get there right when it opens and usually have the pool mostly to ourselves for at least the first hour.

Caleb's version of a cannon ball. ;)

Donuts with Daddy

Caleb and Luke love going to various donut shops around town with their Daddy, and request it often. As Luke always asks, "Nonuts, Daddy?"

5 and (almost) 2 1/2

Caleb had his five year old check up last week and did awesome. He had two shots to get and took them like a champ. And, he was super excited when the doctor told him that he wouldn't need anymore until he turned 11. (I gently reminded him that flu shots don't count!) Last week he completed kindergarten camp at his school and got to know his teacher well. He said one of the days was "the hardest day ever" when his teacher made him hold his pencil the right way and cut slowly so he'd do a good job. :)

3 feet, 7 1/2 inches tall
41 pounds
(Just above 50th percentile for both height and weight.)

Luke is loving summer and is so, so sweet these days. His talking has taken off and he's saying some three and four word phrases. He's wild, yet still such a cuddly little guy. He loves his pretend food, trucks, swimming, riding his bike outside, and playing with money. If he doesn't have pockets full of coins, you can bet he has his "purse" full of coins. (His purse is really a cloth basket.)

Caleb's slippers, a grocery cart full of pretend food, and his purple purse full of coins. :)

Luke's naps are crazy this summer. After a morning and early afternoon at the pool, he'll sleep for 3 or 3 1/2 hours before I finally wake him up. I keep telling myself that today will be the day that I let him sleep, then always end up waking him at 5 or 5:30, fearful he won't go to bed that night. What a life!

More Lake Fun

The 4th of July
Caleb, with his friends, Eleanor and Thomas

Eleanor loved Luke and was happy to have him on her lap.

Caleb is just smitten over Eleanor. He's talked about her since he met her last summer, and loved playing with her while we were there. He also asked her numerous times if she would marry him, and even said that when she is 29 he wants her to come to Kentucky and marry him. Ah, first love. ;)

Naps on the boat are the best!

Waiting out the rain...

Only on vacation...
