Gloves

What started off as painting with a brush, turned quickly into finger painting, which then progressed into hand painting. Caleb called his paint covered hands his "gloves." Then he clapped and paint

Matching

Just as cute as I had imagined!

*****

After a two minute time out...

Caleb: I'm sorry I cried. (pause) It was your fault.

*****

While wrestling him to put on his pjs...

Caleb: Take a deep breath. Calm down.

One Month Old

This past month has flown by and it already seems as though
Luke has always been a part of the family. We are still adjusting
to life as a family of 4, although there is still a good schedule to
be worked out. Creed and I actually got to go out to a wonderful
dinner last night (thanks, Mom!) and we managed to only talk
about the kids a few times! I did feel as though I was missing
something all evening, something that has basically been
attached to me for 4 weeks...

...this little guy!

Luke, at one month old you are such a happy baby. You
eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day and every 4-5
hours at night. During the day you stay awake for about
an hour after each feeding, then nap until you are hungry
again. While awake, you are happy and content (as long
as you are not having tummy issues) and like to lay on
your back. At night you are only awake long enough to eat,
(knock on wood!!) and we are so happy about that! You
love your swing and would sleep forever in it. On most
days you end up napping in your swing, but we are going
to work on getting you to nap in your crib...soon! At night
you still love sleeping in your Rock & Play Sleeper, but we
are going to try the Pack and Play...soon! (Why fix what's
not broken, right?!!) And, a tight swaddle is still a must!
*****
You have so many expressions! I swear I could take 10
pictures of you and you'd look different in all 10. My favorite
is when you wrinkle your forehead and look very concerned.
I also love when you open your mouth and look suprised. It's
as if you're saying, "Oh!!"
*****
You have outgrown your newborn clothes and are now
wearing size 0-3 months. We'll find out next Thursday at
your checkup how much you weigh, but at least for now we
know for sure you have gotten longer! You are also, for the
most part, always wearing a bib. While you don't have the
same issues as your brother, you are still spitting up at
least once, but sometimes three and four times with each
feeding. Luckily some of Caleb's bibs have a little of the
Velcro left, so we are able to use those. (I didn't buy any
bibs this time hoping that I'd get a baby that didn't spit-HA!)
*****
Luke, you are such a JOY, and we are so blessed to have
you as our son! Love you, buddy!

Caleb

Oh, Caleb! These days Caleb is....well....hilarious. While I don't
always think he is hilarious at the time, looking back I can
usually laugh. He is like living with a 16 year old boy- he has an
answer for everything. I had no idea I'd need to work on talking
back with my two year old! He tries, and is usually fairly
successful, at driving us crazy. He is determined. He is strong
willed. Very, very strong willed. He is a trip! He likes to test every
single limit placed on him by his parents. He is a two year old
with a new baby in the house, although thankfully, he has
adjusted to Luke 98% of the time. He is impossible to talk into
anything, unless you can make him think it's his idea! He is
so much fun. He is curious, smart, and has the most amazing
memory of the most random facts. He is perfect.

These pictures are from two rounds of hide and seek with
Caleb. Hide and seek consists of Caleb laying in the middle
of the floor, hiding his eyes, and you finding him. He loves it!

First Bath

On Sunday Luke had his first real bath! He wasn't a happy
camper, but tolerated it a little better when we covered him
with warm wash cloths and stuck in the passie.

Not happy about the actual washing part of the bath!

And for fun, here is Caleb's first bath...

A first

Luke's first walk to Grandma's!

Guess What?!!

Here's a hint...
Ridiculous amounts of candy out on the counter...

A library of potty books...

That's right, it's POTTY TIME in our house these days! Since
we've basically been home for most of the days for the past
month, we've worked on potty training. I'm SO excited and
super proud of Caleb because he has done amazing. He's
wearing underwear and telling us when he needs to go. In
fact, yesterday he was outside playing in his sandbox and
came inside to potty! He's even worn underwear to his
grandparents house, although we haven't ventured out in them
while running errands just yet.

What made the difference with Caleb??? While earning 5
small candies always helped, it was this book that made
all the difference...

PeePaw and Grandma Beth got Caleb "Bear in Underwear,"
and he loves Bear's tighty whiteys, so much in fact that we
had to get Caleb his own tighty whiteys! It's actually a really
cute book, and I don't mind reading it 10 times a day!

Gone Fishin'

A few weeks ago Creed took Caleb to Bass Pro Shops to get his
first fishing pole. While Creed tried and tried to talk Caleb into a
child's Skeet Reese rod, Caleb was determined to come home
with the Mickey Mouse one. After all, the Skeet Reese rod didn't
light up! ;)

Since the weather was so nice on Thursday, Creed decided it
was time for Caleb's first fishing trip. They went and bought bait
at the bait shop, then we all headed out to Uncle Kenny's pond...

Waiting patiently for Daddy to get ready

Creed explained over and over that he needed to watch
his bobber. (I'm not sure he ever saw it out there!)

Waiting...

He got one! Daddy helped reel it in.

It must be a big one...

SO excited over his first catch!

Of course he had to kiss it!

And this is what happened next! Caleb was done fishing
and spent the rest of his time searching for pine cones and
throwing them in the pond.

Meanwhile, Creed continued to fish using the Mickey pole.

And, Luke and I just relaxed in the warm sun.

A Proud PeePaw

This shows how long it's been since I uploaded pictures
from my camera...I took this picture when PeePaw came
in town the first weekend of March. Better later than never!

Go Cats!

This St. Patrick's Day we opted to wear blue rather than
green!

didn't stop Caleb from having a little fun outside!

A Resemblance

When Luke's eyes are open, I just don't think he and Caleb
look alike...
But, when he is sound asleep, I see a resemblance to our
first born who napped in that Boppy as well.

His Homecoming

On Sunday, February 27, we were given the ok to head home
from the hospital! I was so excited because I had matching
shirts for both boys. Luke's was a size 3 mo, so I knew it
would be a little big on him...but that's when I assumed he
would be a bigger baby than Caleb. Boy was I wrong! It was
absolutely huge on him, and absolutely precious!

One Week Old

Luke, you are one week old!
You are a really good baby! The only time you cry really is
during diaper changes, and you're getting better at that.
*****
At the doctor for your first checkup you weighed 7 pounds,
2 ounces! We were so happy that you passed your birth
weight and are growing and healthy!!
*****
You eat between every 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 hours during the day
and about every 4 hours at night. So far, you always go right
back to sleep after nighttime feedings, and stay awake for
up to an hour during the day.
*****
You sleep in your Rock & Play Sleeper at night by our bed
and for most naps. However, you love napping in bed with
Mommy!
*****
Like your brother, you are a spitter, and it's actually getting
worse each day. :( I had my first necessary clothing change
from a gusher yesterday, and we are going through burp
cloths faster than I can keep up with the laundry. Looks like
we will need to be purchasing those bibs after all...
*****
Unlike your brother, you are a cuddler...and we LOVE that!
*****
We love you so much, Luke! You are the most precious thing
and I can't wait to watch you grow!

Brothers

On Saturday morning my parents brought Caleb over to the
hospital so he could meet his little brother. At first he wasn't
too sure of the situation, and even tried to escape from the
room. But after a little reassuring, he climbed up in my lap
and wanted to hold his brother.

Priceless!

He's already pestering him!
*****
Adjusting to having a little brother around has been difficult
on Caleb, as we all imagined. He is roaring a lot louder these
days, has asked to put baby Luke back in my tummy, and
loves when Luke is asleep in his bed and not in someone's
arms. Our sweet two year old who very, very rarely threw fits
has already thrown more this week than he had previously
in his life. We are just praying that this transition time becomes
his new normal sooner rather than later, for all our sakes!
