Updates

This picture was taken yesterday, DAY FIVE of Caleb being sick...
What started as a stomach bug, turned into a coughing and
fever issue. He'd get off the couch and play for 15 or so minutes,
but then was back on the couch. So, yesterday I took him to the
doctor and was SHOCKED to find out that he has pneumonia. We
started him on an antibiotic, and today I am happy to report that
he hasn't run a fever! He is even up and playing closer to 30 minutes!
The good news also is that he isn't contagious, so we don't have to
worry about bringing home a baby later this weekend.
*****
Speaking of baby Luke, I went to the doctor as well yesterday, and
everything went great. I am considered "favorable" for an induction,
so everything is a go for tomorrow. Hopefully we will get in sometime
in the morning, although we have to wait until they have open beds.
(With Caleb it wasn't until almost noon that we got the go ahead.)
*****
While I am really the only person that cares about this, we did find out
that our CORRECT chest is going to be delivered TODAY. So, I
will be able to have that ready. It's amazing to me that it takes 5
months to get our original shipment, yet less than 2 weeks to get the
chest.

My Little Helper

I took these pictures sometime at the start of last week, and
they are so precious that I had to share. I've mentioned that
Caleb loves to help out around the house and setting the
dinner table is one of his favorite things. Here are a few
action shots of him at work...

While I do the plates and glasses, he takes care of the
rest and he is always SO proud of himself!
*****
And, I couldn't resist sharing some of his funny sayings
from this past week...

As I was getting ready, he walked into the bathroom and
said to me, "I'm so glad you're not a dinosaur!" (Me too!)

As I was blowing my nose..."That was a good blow, Mommy!"

Caleb: "How you doin' today?"
Me: I'm good. How about you?
Caleb: "I'm doing pretty good too."

Me: Look, Caleb! The wind blew your slide over!"
Caleb: "That's ridiculous!"

Timing is Everything

Friday night, or actually early Saturday morning, Caleb came
down with a stomach bug. He got sick for about 3 hours straight,
but after that passed, he just seemed to feel really bad. All day
Saturday he laid around sipping Ginger Ale, eating ice chips,
and enjoying numerous Popsicles. He ran a low fever all day,
but other than that didn't have any other symptoms.

However, Sunday he woke up a new man and was in the best
mood. (I'm sure sleeping 13 hours straight had something to do
with that.) While he didn't eat hardly at all Sunday, he talked our
ears off and played most of the day. We joked that he had to
make up for all the words he missed saying on Saturday. We
thought we were in the clear...

Unfortunately, when he woke up this morning it was very
apparent by the look of his eyes that he was not himself.
He laid around for about an hour before getting sick again.
Luckily it was just that one time, and since then he has
napped and kept his Ginger Ale, Popsicles, and toast
down. We have set a record for the most Disney and Nick Jr
shows watched in one day, and spent a lot of time cuddling
on our towel covered couch. While I HATE seeing my little
man sick, I am so thankful that at least he is getting this now
and not next weekend. I can't imagine not being with him
while he sick, or having a newborn at home for this. Now it's
time to get out the bleach and Lysol!

You know you're really, really close to your due date when...

  • You wake up to find your husband sleeping in another bedroom due to your loud snoring. (And that's after he woke you up and asked you to roll over...yeah, rolling over no longer helps!)
  • You hear "She looks like she is going to explode!" come out of a 10 year olds mouth as you pass him in the hallway.
  • Your ankle bones are nonexistent. Seriously.
  • Your doctor is genuinely surprised when you make it to your next checkup.
  • Coworkers are genuinely surprised when they see you at work the next day. "I was sure you were going to have that baby last night." Um, nope.
  • Everyone answers their phone on the first ring when they see your number on caller ID.
  • Everyone gets upset and worried when you don't answer your phone. FYI...mine is off from 2-4, nap time! :)
  • You answer, "I feel fine/good/ok!" at least 20 times a day.
  • You don't even glance at the scale at the doctor's office, because let's face, who really cares at this point!?
  • You no longer care that the furniture store sent you the wrong chest, because at this point, you won't get the right one before the baby gets here.
  • Your bags are packed, you're ready to go...but have nowhere to go...yet!

The Dentist

Tuesday Caleb had his first dentist appointment. After watching me
during my check up, he decided he wanted to sit in the chair all by
himself when it was his turn.

He showed the dentist how he brushes his teeth...

and let her clean them.

We are SO proud of how good he did! He is just
getting way too big! (And yes, that's still his puppy
friend Bill along for the ride. It was Bill that sat on
Santa's lap too, if you'll recall.)

An End In Sight!

Today I had my 38 week checkup with my doctor. Baby Luke
was very active and had a steady heartbeat. And, because of
how I am progressing, she decided that we'll do an induction
next Friday, February 25, assuming he doesn't make an
appearance before then. So far, all of these appointments have
gone exactly like they did with Caleb, even progressing the
same each week. If I am induced on the 25th, that too will be
the exact day of the pregnancy that I was induced with Caleb.
Hopefully all this means that this labor and delivery will be
easy and event free, just like Caleb's as well. (Oh, but I will
be asking for the numbing medicine for the IV this time- ouch!)
Please keep Luke and I in your prayers over the next week and
a half, and Caleb in your prayers after that!

Valentine's Day

Caleb had a great Valentine's Day, full of L-O-T-S of sweet
treats! With more than one set of grandparents out of town, he
also had fun opening his packages! He knows just what to do
when the UPS man comes to the door with a brown box!

*****
After dinner he opened his Valentine treats from Mommy
and Daddy. He is a Mickey fanatic, so the glasses, cup, and
Pez were a big hit!

*****
I have to share this funny story...this kid cracks me up. Creed and
I don't do big gifts for holidays really, just little things. So, for
Valentine's Day he said he wanted chocolates and I said that I
wanted flowers- but no roses because they are so overdone and SO
expensive this week. Bless Creed's heart because when he got
home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, Caleb looked at him and
said, "Why not get Mommy roses?!" Ha! (I like where his head
was, though!)

It's been a while...

It's official...this is by far, the longest that I have gone without updating
or even looking at the blog. I feel like we have been on the go since
this time last week, but I figured it was time to update. I'm also
devoting Caleb's entire nap time to napping myself! (Sorry Marshma,
I know you are frustrated with my lack of pictures lately, so this update
is for you!) We've done a lot since last Tuesday...

We've watched Uncle Luke play a few basketball games, even scoring
a double double one night. (So close to a triple double too!) We just
love going to games, and even got to go to one without Caleb- thanks
a million, Grandma! (Going without Caleb means you actually get to
watch the game!)
***
We picked up our baby furniture FINALLY! The crib and night stand are
beautiful, but unfortunately after unloading the chest and carrying it
upstairs (Thanks, Grandpa!), we realized it is the wrong collection. The
color matches, but the style isn't right, so I'm still waiting to see how
long we'll be waiting on the new piece to come in. Here is a picture of
Luke's crib with his bedding...
*****
I enjoyed a yummy bruch at Wild Eggs with a few friends and
family to celebrate Luke's upcoming arrival.
*****
Caleb has enjoyed some sweet treats, thanks to Nikki. He is SO
funny...I told him that if he ate his dinner really well he could have
a surprise from Ms. Nikki. When it was time for dessert I held up
the cookie and he squealed with delight, "Dear God, thank you for
Ms. Nikki!" Ha! Isn't that hilarious?!! The way to Caleb's heart...
*****
We've even enjoyed some outside play time, now that the
temperatures are above freezing. I can't imagine what 60
will feel like if 50 feels this warm!

*****
We've also celebrated Valentine's Day, went to the dentist
for Caleb's first check up (pictures to come), made a few
mall/Target/WalMart/Kroger trips, and I've officially eaten a
whole bag of Starburst jelly beans over a 48 hour period. Whew.
And, I'm leaving work early tomorrow for my 38 week checkup,
so we'll see...

Train Show

Saturday morning Grandpa and Grandaddy picked up Caleb for
a "boys trip" to the train show. I can only imagine how in heaven
Caleb was!

A Future Bobby Flay?

Caleb LOVES to help out around the house these days, especially
if it involves dusting, vacuuming, or doing anything in the kitchen.
I try to always let him set the table for dinner, and he not only feels
really proud of himself, but it keeps him from driving me crazy while
trying to cook. He's always asking, "Help you?" so if it's possible,
I always agree. Last night while making chili he wanted to be
involved...

He likes to stir...

and pour in the ingredients. He actually spilled a little on the
side of the stove and said, "Ohhhh, Myyyyy Goooossshhh!"

A future Bobby Flay? I can only hope so! Oh, and after
we finished, he might have told me "Thank you" at least
10 times for letting him cook the chili. Melts my heart!

**Disclaimer: Just so you know, I'm sure he was in time
out at least 2 or 3 times that evening after we finished
cooking so don't let his precious comments fool you too
much! He's a major stinker! ;)

A Bad Sign?!!

Tonight I tucked Caleb into bed and didn't hear a peep from
him...at least for the first 20 minutes. Then it was "Mamma!"
and another "Mamma!!" followed by a much louder and
longer "Mammmmmaaaaa!!!" I went into his room, thinking
he'd need another back rub or minute of cuddle time. When
I asked what was wrong, he replied, "No baby Yuke come."
Apparently while trying to fall asleep he was stewing on the
thought of a baby brother. All I said was, "It's okay, baby
Luke is not coming tonight," and with that he turned over
satisfied and said goodnight.

Fishing

Learning the art of patience when it comes to fishing, just
like Daddy!
