Better Than School Lunch

Last Friday I was off work so I got to pick Caleb up from school. Instead
of going home we went to McDonalds to get a Happy Meal and then to
Taco Bell to get Luke's favorites. Then it was back to school for a surprise
lunch with Uncle Luke. While Luke thought he was in trouble when he got
called to the office, he was relieved and happy to see us standing there
with lunch. Caleb LOVED having lunch with Uncle Luke and the rest of
Luke's friends. While Caleb knew the boys at Luke's table from basketball,
there were two unfamiliar girls that he quickly said, "Bye bye girls" to
over and over. Ha! The girls thought it was funny and I reminded Caleb
that it wasn't nice to say that! We can't wait to have lunch with Uncle Luke
again!!

School Update

Sorry- no pictures to share. But, I did want to update you on Caleb's
school experience. I was shocked to hear that when Grandma
picked him up today, the coordinator mentioned to her that he was
upset. Upset? Yep...he didn't want to leave Mrs. Harper! Ha!

So, needless to say school is going great. He brings home his
art work each day, and so far the overall theme has been that "God
created the world," although when I asked who made the sun and
flower on his picture, he replied, "Mrs. Harper." I told him that yes,
she did cut it out, but God made the sun and flower. He still says
Mrs. Harper, though.

Today was fun because he ran into Luke on the way to Chapel. The
whole school meets Wednesday mornings for a worship service,
and the preschool attends the first 20 minutes. Luke said he just
looked at him and said "Hi Ga." (If you ask what Ga's name is, he
replies "Yuke," so not sure why he still calls him Ga!)

We are so thrilled that school has been such a positive experience
so far and pray that his love for school continues!

Milk & Cookies

After Caleb ate 4 helpings of green beans last week at dinner, Creed
decided to reward his healthy eating with some milk and cookies. While
Caleb is no stranger to cookies (that's really an understatement!),
dipping Oreos in milk was a new experience. And, it happened to be an
experience that he really, really enjoyed!

Getting the hang of it...A mouth so full that he can't close it, but already
dipping his next Oreo. I like his style!

Yum!

He was trying to get me with his dirty, sticky hands!

Talk

If you have talked to me on the phone recently, then I'm sure that
you have talked to Caleb too! He loves talking on the phone and
now insists that he at least say hello to anyone that I am talking
to. He actually takes his phone conversations very seriously.

Play Ball!

Last weekend Creed and I went to Cincinnati for a Red's game.
Saturday night we went to Newport and had dinner at a yummy
Italian restaurant. Sunday we slept in (almost 9!!!!) and ordered
room service for breakfast, which might have been the highlight
of the trip for me. Room service for breakfast just makes my giddy!
Then we went to the game where I enjoyed a Diet Coke (only my
3rd of the pregnancy!), amazing nachos, and a hot dog from the
$1 hot dog stand. I cannot tell you how much I LOVE ball park
food! While it was hot, our seats were in the shade, and by the
3rd inning, there was a significant breeze. Oh, and the Red's won!

Thanks to the tag team of grandparents and great-grand parents
who kept up with Caleb!!!!!

Baby "Cake"

If you ask Caleb what's in Mommy's tummy, he'll gladly tell you
a baby, although he has absolutely no idea what that means. About
a month ago Creed asked Caleb if he was going to have a baby
brother or a baby sister. He quickly replied, "Sister," and has stuck
with that answer since. (We'll know October 4th!!) Creed also
asked what we should name the baby and Caleb's answer...
"Cake." Since then he has gone back and forth between Cake
and Girl, but 9 times out of 10 Cake is his choice.

Well, Baby Cake is doing well these days. I had my 12 week
appointment yesterday and we got to hear the heartbeat. It was
in the 160s, which happens to be exactly what Caleb's was at his
12 week appointment. I still get waves of nauseousness throughout
the day, but have regained some of my energy. To those who know
me, I'm "showing," and have even had to pull out the Bella Bands
this week.

Funny story: Tuesday was the first day of school and I
wore a cotton dress that is the most comfortable thing I own, but
also shows off my bump very well. An observant 3rd grader quickly
asked is I was pregnant and I told her that I was. Today I wore a
loose top over capris, which hides my bump a little. That same
little girl ran up to me this morning and asked if I was still pregnant
because I didn't look like it anymore! She was slightly disappointed
to find out that I didn't have the baby yesterday. I told her she has a
long wait! :)

First Day of Preschool

Today was Caleb's first day of preschool at Whitefield Academy.
He was so excited this morning to get to school to see Mrs. Harper.
As I was getting him dressed he looked at me and said, "Mrs.
Harper nice." Yes, sweetheart, she is very nice.

Before school, dressed and ready in his new shoes and back
pack.

His room has a little door for all the kids to walk into. He
liked that.

Finding his cubby and hanging up his backpack. His
morning went something like this...
8:00-8:15 Playtime while everyone arrives.
8:15-8:30 Circle Time
8:30-9:15 Learning Centers
9:15-10:00 Snack Time
10:00-10:30 Gym or outside (depending on weather)
10:30-11:00 Craft Time
11:00-11:25 Playtime and dismissal for half day kids

*****

After school, all smiles! As we were driving away he said, "Bye
school!"

Today's the Day

I'll update soon! I get to pick him up at 11:25. And
there is no school bus involved, thank goodness!

Fearless

As I've said before, when it comes to water, Caleb is fearless. I love
that he is always willing to try new things and usually loves them. Last
week we went swimming at my friend from high school, Amanda's
aunt's house. She and her fiance Dean were in town for our 10 year
reunion and she got to spend some time with Caleb before the big
night.

His swimming skills have improved so much over the past few
weeks that we decided to give water wings a try. They were a
huge success- he LOVED swimming all by himself!

Leaping off the side of the pool!

He loved standing on the float and jumping off. Amanda was such
a good sport!

Amanda- Thanks for having us over! We had a great time and
can't wait to see you again!!!!!

Last Week

Monday
Ava spent the day with us, and since the heat index was in the
triple digits, we stayed indoors. The played really well together
and loved the doctor kit.
***
Tuesday
As I was packing our pool bag Tuesday morning, I leaned down
to kiss Caleb and noticed that he felt warmer than usual. As
luck would have it he ran a temperature all day, although he
acted totally normal. He ate, drank, and played great, but needless
to say the packed pool bag sat in the closet. He did enjoy all the
Popsicles!
***
Wednesday (fever free!)
Tuesday night we noticed a red rash appearing all over Caleb's
little body, so Wednesday too was spent indoors. I used this time
to get in a little potty training. I hadn't really encouraged it in over
a month, and its looking like he still isn't ready to begin. He did
like watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while sitting on his
potty, though!
***
Thursday
With his rash still present, I took him to the doctor just to make sure
everything was fine. She assured me that it was a virus that probably
started with the fever, but he is fine. I just really don't like rashes!

Krogering

Caleb and I usually hit the grocery once a week, and let me tell
you that this boy LOVES Kroger. It may have something to do
with the yummy sugar cookie the nice deli ladies always give him
or the sticker and balloon at checkout! He also likes to point out
items that he thinks we should buy and he always picks out his
box of PopTarts for the week. But, sometimes I need to make
a quick trip for just a few items and these are Caleb's favorite
trips by far. That's because he gets to push the "little cart" and
help me out.

He actually does great pushing it and loves to take the items
off the shelf and load the cart himself. He also manages to
say hello to every single person we pass! (I think, actually I
know) he loves the attention.

Taking his job very seriously!
