Caleb has been on what you may call an eating strike lately. If
it isn't crackers, cheese, or some type of fruit, nine times out of
ten he won't touch it. I mean he won't even pick it up or dare to
taste it. It makes meal time hectic (which explains why his eyes
are glued to the TV during dinner time on this evening) and
very frustrating.
Anyways, I end up giving him one thing at a time...usually some
type of veggie, then meat, followed by pasta or bread. He might
take one bite if I'm lucky. On this particular evening we started
with mixed veggies. No luck. Then I gave him some of the salad
that I was eating, salad that one month ago he would have
gobbled up. Again, no luck. Next it was pizza. He ate the black
olives off the top, but flat out refused to taste the actual pizza.
At this point I'm really getting frustrated so I put in Laurie
Berkner while I tried to find something in the fridge he'd eat. I find
some left over mac and cheese, the same mac and cheese that
he loved the day before. Won't even look at it. (Seriously- he
turned his head!) As a last resort, I heat up some spaghetti
noodles with butter...something he usually refuses to eat. And,
imagine that...he loved it.

Early Thanksgiving
A couple Sundays ago we got together with Grandpa
Kevin's side of the family for an early Thanksgiving. Since
everyone is always so busy, and many go out of town, we
always get together the beginning of November, and it
works out perfect. This Sunday the weather was perfect
so all the kids played outside most of the afternoon.

Caleb wasn't too sure about taking a ride with cousin
Morgan. He didn't cry, but he didn't crack a smile either.

What a Trooper!
Thursday morning we all headed out to Papa John's
Cardinal Stadium (actually just the parking lot) to get
the H1N1 vaccination. While Caleb got it a few weeks
ago at his pediatrician, Creed and I still needed to get
vaccinated. We were very nervous about the long lines
and the wait time, and anticipated at least an hour. I
packed snacks for Caleb and had Laurie Berkner
ready to go. Luckily, it only took about 45 minutes total,
one viewing of Laurie Berkner and two "bonus" songs.
And, we didn't even have to get out of the car. I simply
rolled down the window and rolled up my sleeve. That
was it!

The long line (that surprisingly kept moving!)
Towards the end he was getting a little restless. But,
overall he did a great job! And now, we won't get the
"pig flu," as one of my second graders called it. :)

Cookie Cake
Last Saturday was my birthday...It's amazing how your
birthday is no longer a big deal after you have a child! In
fact, one of the highlights of my birthday was watching
Caleb enjoy a slice of my cookie cake.

A Simple Box
Last week a giant box arrived holding one of Caleb's
Christmas presents. While I hid the present in the guest
bedroom, I decided to let Caleb play in the box. He
LOVES it! I cut some windows in it for him, and it is still
in our living room today.

A New Friend
On November 3, our dear friends Nikki and Matt added a
little boy to their family. Hayden Matthew Durst is just
absolutely precious, looking very much like his big sister
Madalyn did when she was born. Caleb is excited to have
another friend!!

Apparently he was just worn out today!
Caleb wasn't very excited when I held Hayden, but he did
like checking him out.

More Pics
Thank goodness Grandma Beth took more pictures last weekend!
While I worked last Friday, Caleb got to spend the day with his
grandparents and Uncle Drew. They had lots of fun playing inside

and out...
Drew started at the top of the incline on our street and pulled
Caleb. Of course, Caleb loved going fast!
Caleb loves his PeePaw- they are big buddies!
We put rocks under our deck to cover the mud. Caleb thinks
the rocks were a great idea. He loves playing under there.
Dear PeePaw, Grandma Beth, and Uncle Drew,
Thanks so much for coming to visit me on Halloween and
for taking such great care of me! I love how you spoil me
and let me do whatever I want. Playing on your laptop was
the best...Mom never lets me do that! Can 't wait to see
you in a few weeks.
Love, Caleb
P.S. Tell Uncle Matt that I missed him!

Happy Halloween
We hope you all had a great Halloween weekend! We had a very
busy, but very fun weekend. PeePaw, Grandma Beth, and Uncle
Drew came to town, which was such a nice treat. (Although, I'm so
sad to say that I didn't get ANY pictures- what's wrong with me?!!)
Caleb enjoyed wearing his bear costume and met up with some
of his neighborhood buddies for some trick or treating.

He actually held his trick or treat bucket for about 2
minutes!
He used it to carry rocks! :)
Without being prompted, he walked to the neighbor's house,
crawled up the steps, and knocked on their door. He's
never done this before, and it cracked me up that he did it
on Halloween, of all nights!
Riding to Barrett's house
See! I hardly took any pictures! :( Oh well. There's always
next year...
