The Zoo!

We took advantage of the cooler weather and low humidity
and headed to the zoo with Nikki and Madalyn today. This
was actually Caleb's first trip- I spent a full week at the zoo
with my 4th graders while I was pregnant and haven't been
too excited to go back. But, today was great! Caleb was very
serious as he studied the animals, but I think he liked it.
Madalyn was so cute- she loved making the animals noises.
Apparently a tiger says, "meow."

Thanks for the invite, Nikki & Madalyn! We had a great time!

We got really close to the giraffes as they were eating.

We thought Caleb's new monkey shirt was perfect for
the zoo. (Thanks, Barrett!)

An Experience

Last night we decided to take Caleb to Cunningham's on
the River for dinner BY BOAT. I was nervous because he
hasn't been on the boat for more than just a few minutes,
and the Ohio River is rough. I just didn't want him to be
scared. The trip started out great, even though the River
was super rough. Caleb sat calmly on my lap and seemed
to enjoy the bumpy & wet (It was so rough that when we'd
hit a wave water sprayed up and over the boat!) ride.

Harrod's Creek is a no wake zone, and Caleb was DONE
sitting on my lap, so I let him sit on the little step in front of
us.

He even enjoyed a cracker...

Dinner was awesome. My Mom, Kevin, & Paige met us
down there,and helped entertain Caleb.

You'll notice that my pictures stop after dinner. That is because
Caleb was a holy terror on the ride back to the ramp. As we
idled down Harrods Creek, he screamed because I wouldn't
let him crawl around the front of the boat. People at Captain's
Quarters and on others boats were laughing at us! As we made
our way out onto the main river, I obviously put him in my lap for
the bumpy ride. That really ticked him off...He screamed, flailed
his arms, arched his back, and kicked his legs the entire way
back to the ramp. He even spit his passie into the river he was
crying so hard. But, we made it. Hopefully 4th of July at the lake
will be better. (It couldn't get much worse!)

Splash Pad

Caleb got a super fun splash pad for his birthday, thanks to
his Grandma Kathy and Aunt Erika. He seems to have a lot
of fun, although I think it took him a while to take it all in!

His favorite thing to do...drink the water!

I can't imagine

I can't imagine the trouble these boys are going to get into in
a few years...

Party Time

Yesterday Caleb went to his friend Barrett's 1st birthday party.
Barrett lives in our neighborhood and his Mom, Amanda, is
a teacher too. We try and get the boys together a lot, especially
in the evenings when the boys might normally be a little fussy. It
is amazing how much they love playing with each other's toys,
even when it is a toy they have at their own home!

Happy Birthday, Barrett! We had a great time at your party!

The 1 year old

Caleb borrowed some of Barrett's pool clothes so he
could play outside. (It was sooo hot yesterday and I
couldn't bring myself to walk back home and get Caleb's
things...thanks Amanda!!)

More from B-day Weekend

Here are more pictures from Caleb's birthday weekend...

Baby Nixon!

We were so excited to finally meet baby Nixon this morning!
His parents, Nick & Amanda, are in our Bible Study. Nixon
is doing great- he weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and was
20.5 inches long. He is precious!

He's lovin' it!

With all the sunny weather this week, we've been able to take
advantage of the pool on a few afternoons. Today was lots of
fun because Caleb got to go with his Mommy AND Daddy!
So far, Caleb LOVES the pool. He'll spend time walking
around the baby pool and loves to swim with his Daddy in the
big pool.

Today Caleb had the baby pool all to himself!

I call this float his walker...it works just like a walker
in the house. He is able to "walk" around the pool and
the float keeps him from falling. And, with Caleb being
Mr. Independent these days, this is a must.

He was kicking & splashing...His expression says it all.

I know this hat is fairly dorky, but I love it. Caleb's face
breaks out in a nasty rash anytime we put sunscreen on
him. The hat protects his face, ears, and neck so well that
we look past the style factor.

Caleb sure loves his Daddy!

Enjoying Summer

While it's been too hot to play outside for long these past few
days, Caleb did enjoy some time in the sprinkler yesterday.
Since he loves the pool so much, I figured he'd have a blast in
the sprinkler. I'd say I was right...

When Caleb is really happy or excited, he beats his chest,
which he is doing in this picture. I think he thinks he is
clapping because he does the same thing when I sing, "If
you're happy and you know it clap your hands." I told Creed
the other day that we are going to have to start singing "If
you're happy and you know it beat your chest." At least then
Caleb would appear to be doing the correct motion!

Let the fun begin!

Caleb and Caroline met on Sunday for the first time! After
church, Caroline came to Grandma & Grandaddy's for
Sunday lunch. She looked precious in her beautiful dress
and bright red hair bow! It is so awesome that Caleb will
have a cousin so close in age to grow up with!

Don't let Caroline's petite size fool you...she ate the
entire time we were having lunch!

She is sitting up great and VERY social! She is already
trying to take charge and steal Caleb's toy. (Although she
probably had it first.)

Caleb wanted to show her how to work his helicopter.

Payback... But, notice her face in the picture. She wasn't
going down without a fight! :)

Caleb fought the Nutri-Grain Bar...

...and the Nutri-Grain Bar won!
