September (and Lacey!)

After Tina, we knew we wanted to rescue a dog. In our mind, a small to medium sized dog would be perfect, so we began searching online. While scrolling through the adoptable dogs on the Humane Society website of Scott County, Indiana, we came across a lab mix and I immediately emailed the foster mom to express interest. She called me that afternoon and started telling me about the 10 week old puppy she had named Lacey. Lacey was surrendered with her two brothers, and all we knew was that her mom was a black lab. She said Lacey was very sweet, listened well, got along with kids and other pets, but was a big puppy- already weighing 20 pounds.

A few days later we drove up to Scott County and met Lacey! We were all in love with her sweet and gentle manner, and that night we signed the adoption papers!

Because of Humane Society rules, we had to wait a full week before we were able to bring her home. Our last cabin trip without Lacey...

The following week the boys thought we were going to drive up and get Lacey after school, but Creed went during his lunch break, so I surprised the boys with her in carline.

First walk

I feel like we hit the puppy lottery with this girl. She is just SO sweet! I've sent numerous "Thank you" texts to her foster mom, thanking her for providing such a loving home before we could get her.

Lake ready with her new life jacket.

We had a great evening celebrating Claire turning FIVE!

Lacey LOVES the cabin and being able to run around outside without neighborhood distractions.

First lake day

Day 2 she slept the entire time. :)

This kid has such a feel for water sports... We were impressed with his ability to surf sitting down!

Teaching NTI is exhausting ;)

August

Caleb was pumped to get his official boater's driving license!

Our resident frog catcher! Summer nights are the cabin are the BEST!

Out of the blue, this guy decided to throw the rope and surfed life a pro! Apparently he has been listening as we've given others surf pointers and did everything he needed to do to catch the wake and stay in the sweet spot.

Caleb was slaloming behind Grandmom and Grandpa's boat and passed by.

During a thunderstorm, this lady showed up on our porch and ended up spending the weekend with us. We put up signs all over Jamestown, but never heard from her owner. Assuming she was a stray, we bathed her, fed her, got her a new collar, and named her Tina.

She was so sweet and we were all smitten.

Apparently we were wrong and Tina did have a home, as she ran off and never came back. We still laugh thinking about how she went home with a new collar. While we were super sad, it was a defining moment for our family. We came to the conclusion that we needed a dog. :) (The boys are convinced that Tina was a God thing.)

Back to school, Covid style

As the lake level has dropped, Family Falls has become even more beautiful.

It's hard to go to school all week and still go hard all weekend. :)
