August

Caleb was pumped to get his official boater's driving license!

Our resident frog catcher! Summer nights are the cabin are the BEST!

Out of the blue, this guy decided to throw the rope and surfed life a pro! Apparently he has been listening as we've given others surf pointers and did everything he needed to do to catch the wake and stay in the sweet spot.

Caleb was slaloming behind Grandmom and Grandpa's boat and passed by.

During a thunderstorm, this lady showed up on our porch and ended up spending the weekend with us. We put up signs all over Jamestown, but never heard from her owner. Assuming she was a stray, we bathed her, fed her, got her a new collar, and named her Tina.

She was so sweet and we were all smitten.

Apparently we were wrong and Tina did have a home, as she ran off and never came back. We still laugh thinking about how she went home with a new collar. While we were super sad, it was a defining moment for our family. We came to the conclusion that we needed a dog. :) (The boys are convinced that Tina was a God thing.)

Back to school, Covid style

As the lake level has dropped, Family Falls has become even more beautiful.

It's hard to go to school all week and still go hard all weekend. :)

July

After four days in High Point, we drove straight to the lake house to spend the 4th of July week at Claytor Lake. As soon as we were unpacked that evening, the boys went straight down to the water for some high dock jumping.

Followed by some hot tub time!

Creed was able to meet us there and Caleb worked on his driving skills.

Not too often that a sea plane takes off right next to your boat!

Happy 4th of July

Creed was determined to surf the kids paddle board and made it look easy!

Back home...

The following weekend as we were making the long (and hot!) walk to our boat slip, Luke commented, "I sure wish I was at PeePaw's lake house in the air conditioning right now." Haha

We decided to visit "Family Falls" in Otter Creek one afternoon, and while the falls were actually level with the lake at that time, the boys still loved walking the creek and jumping off the cliffs.

Creed and Caleb tried surfing at the same time...

And, with Caleb in front, they got it!

The boys got SomerSplash passes for Easter, so we were happy to finally go once it opened!

One of Creed's coworkers and his family came down for a weekend. It was Jude's first time on a boat and he LOVED lake life!

Our resident frog catcher at the creek.

Caleb has been doing a great job learning to drive the boat.

Luke figured out how to consistently get up on the surf board

and Caleb worked on his board skills.

This summer both boys got new bikes and have put so many miles on them already. They love going to the Parklands with Grandmom and Grandpa for evening bike rides.
