August

In August we tried out our new rubber boat that PeePaw gave us. It is the perfect boat to go back and forth between Jamestown and State Dock.

I had to work the first week of August so the boys went with Marsha and Papa to visit PeePaw and Grandma Beth at their lake house. Then...

August 14th came WAY TOO SOON...
6th Grade

3rd Grade

"Smile."

"Show me how you feel about school starting."

After school...both boys are having an awesome year and LOVE their classes, which we are so thankful for!

Since Caleb was at the lake during the 6th grade orientation, he didn't get to organize his locker. I ended up grabbing him a few shelves and helped him get it organized one afternoon. I doubt it looks like this today...

We went to a friend's housewarming at the lake and this is their view:

This came home after the first week. Sweet boy. :)

We soaked up as much time at Somersplash as we could in August.

Caleb brought his friend Andrew to the lake one weekend. They have been in class together since two-day 2s preschool.

My kitchen window at the cabin... It really is our Happy Place.

July

The rest of July...

The late night ride from State Dock back to Jamestown was just too much for his little party animal. Glasses and a glow necklace...our little Weekend at Bernies.

We spent lots of afternoons climbing and jumping off of the cliffs in Beaver Creek.

Pop up rain storms were frequent in July.

Aunt Paige spoiled the boys one day and they spent the afternoon at the zoo.

The last week of July Caleb and Luke headed off to kids camp together for three nights with church. Caleb loved it, and while Luke had "so much fun," he also reported that he is "never going back." ;)

Southern California

Creed and I spent a few days in Southern California for a Chevrolet Elite Leaders event. We had a direct flight into LAX and then headed south. We stayed at the Monarch Bay Resort in Dana Point and it was incredible.

The first night we had a dinner and the awards ceremony at the hotel.

The next morning we were up bright and early for a fishing trip.

We spent the afternoon laying by the pool (with a view of the Pacific in the distance!)

and then that night we had the privilege of attending the unveiling of the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette.

The next morning we were up early again, but this time we had surf lessons in Laguna Beach. It was our first ocean surfing experience and we absolutely loved it. Paddling out was super challenging but it was so worth it!

We paddled out further when our instructor spotted dolphins swimming by. It was such a cool experience.

After our surf lesson, we went back to the hotel to get cleaned up and then spent our last afternoon checking out the marina and then exploring Laguna Beach.

Lunch with a view in Laguna Beach.

The next morning we flew home and drove straight down to the lake from the airport. :)
