Luke's Poor Pink Eyes

You can't look at Luke without feeling sorry for him these days... (Although you can see from the smile that he isn't letting a little pink eye get him down!)

Yesterday we headed to the doctor as his left eye was looking red and yucky. The eye drops have improved his left eye, but this morning he work up with his right eye infected as well. He's such a touch guy, though! He's still running around and playing and thankfully, won't rub his eyes, especially if I remind him.

Playing his favorite game- throwing balls at whoever will catch them.

Apparently when you throw a ball you have to open your mouth really wide. ;)  (Oh the mouth of a drooly baby!)

Caleb's "Go Cards" Cast

Friday we met with the orthopedic doctor and Caleb is now the proud owner of a cast. Thankfully, we were able to get one that is waterproof and he'll only be in it a little over three weeks.

My plan was to have him wear the UL shirt that PeePaw got him because I didn't mind if we had to cut it off. (Just in case his cast was large and we couldn't get it off.) Well, my plan totally backfired. Guess what color he picked out???

And for some added flair, he had black stripes added on. (Thanks to the kind cast man for giving him the idea...clearly he isn't a parent yet...) Still, I think he looks precious, UL cast and all. At least it's still football season...

Trick or Treat

Caleb and Luke had so much fun trick or treating, even though we actually only made it to a total of seven houses. (Don't worry, when you get 3, 4, or even 5 pieces of candy at each house, your bag still gets full!)

Our first stop: Grandma & Grandaddy's

Hugs for Grandaddy
(Luke got into the candy right away!)

We also hit up Barrett's, I mean Batman's house. At this point Luke was amazed that people were handing him candy.

The police man and his convict.
I love their expressions...Caleb is simply happy and excited and Luke is serious as can be as he scopes out the next house.

Luke ran to Brody's. At this point he was very confident in his "trick or treat" skills.

Caleb & Brody

Aren't they the cutest?!
All "good" guys, although Caleb would rather play the villian.
\

I love it- all the Boltons went with the Toy Story theme. That's Jessie (Emily) and Woody (baby Jake), and Mr. Potato head (Jeremy) was hiding from the picture. I can't figure out why he'd be shy?! ;)

Getting into the good stuff.
*****
After trick or treating, Caleb ran up to his room to play with some new Legos (thanks Grandma & Grandaddy for something other than candy) and actually didn't want to eat any candy. (SOOO unlike Caleb!) Later that night he had a 101 fever and apparently had some kind of a stomach bug. Poor boy! Bummer of an end to Halloween.

Happy Halloween

We hope you all had a fun, sugar-filled day!

We kept Caleb home from school today since he isn't great at doing things with one hand yet so the boys and I relaxed, played games, and picked up a few "Get Well" toys at Walmart. ;)  Caleb is actually doing great! His arm doesn't hurt at this point and he was able to sleep pretty well last night. We are just trying to figure out the logistics- how to get his shirts on, bathing without getting it wet, buckling him safely in his car seat, etc. But, it could always be worse- we are thankful he isn't in any pain and are hoping for good news at orthopedic doctor tomorrow!

Luke loved Halloween and figured out the "trick or treat" thing really quick. I think he threw 2,000 screaming fits this evening- all candy related. ;) He was like Pavlov's dog... every time the door bell rang he started going crazy because it meant I would reach into the giant candy bowl. And, when the candy went to the dragon, or the vampire, or even the princess at the door, he got really, really mad. But don't feel sorry for him. He seriously ate a sucker, M & Ms, Skittles, yogurt covered raisins (Great idea, Grandmom!), and  jelly beans.

Luke sported a skeleton outfit today and looked pretty cute, if I don't say so myself.

Caleb had me playing Candy Land BEFORE 8am this morning.
(Can you tell I am feeling guilty about the whole I was video taping you on the monkey bars so I feel like it's my fault you fell thing? Yes, I have the whole thing on video.)

One handed Legos

And, Luke also sported skeleton pjs tonight!

Happy Halloween!

Our Morning at the ER

Yesterday late afternoon Caleb fell off the monkey bars and hit pretty hard. He cried for a minute or two, but that was it, so I didn't think much more about it.

This morning while I was unloading groceries I asked him to help me put cans away in the pantry, but he said he could only carry one at a time because his arm was hurting. A few minutes later he asked me to pull back the lever on his Nerf gun, and when I asked why he couldn't, he said that it hurt his arm. He also went on to say that he couldn't sleep on his tummy last night because it hurt his arm so he had to sleep on his back.

At that point, we made the decision to have his arm looked at. Caleb was AWESOME at the hospital. He showed no signs of anxiety and charmed the nurses. He sat perfectly still for numerous X-rays (shoulder, elbow, wrist) and loved when he got to see the actual slides. I think he asked the nurse 10 questions about each picture! Afterwards he got to pick out a sticker, and when the nurse asked if he wanted two, he said "Sure! I'll give it to my baby brother." Sweet boy. (He also picked out a balloon at registration for Luke, too.)

He picked out Cars 2 to watch in his room and actually seemed to enjoy himself. :)

The doctor said he fractured the humerus bone right above his elbow- No wonder it was hurting him! They put a splint on and we are scheduled to see a pediatric ortho surgeon on Thursday to determine what's next.

Tough guy!
I told him his arm might get him a few extra pieces of candy tomorrow!

Climbing High

Caleb has discovered that he can climb one of the trees in our backyard and loves climbing high. Sometimes he gets stuck on the way down, but he's getting the hang of it.

By the way, isn't his birdhouse precious?! PeePaw brought it when he visited and they painted it together. Caleb calls it his "birdy house."

Last Soccer Game

Last Saturday Caleb had his last soccer game for the season, and thankfully, he actually had fun.

Did I Mention?

I just think this is SO precious, and while I know I've already mentioned this, I couldn't help but share...This is what Luke does when we go outside. He just goes and sits by the pumpkins, staring at them.

Friends at the Park

Last week we enjoyed the beautiful weather at the park, and met our neighbors, the Lathams there. Luke and Colin chased the big boys around, trying (unsuccessfully) to keep up.

And, Caleb and Barrett wore themselves out on the monkey bars. It was a perfect afternoon.

Giddy Up!
