Fun with PeePaw

This past weekend PeePaw came to visit and to say that Caleb was excited would be an understatement. Caleb had been counting down- first 4 weeks, then 3 weeks,...then we started counting down the days. When I went into his dark room Thursday morning the first words he uttered were, "Is today Friday?" So, imagine his excitement when he woke up Friday, realizing that it was indeed Friday and he would get to pick PeePaw up at the airport! While we had some crazy weather this weekend (It went from 102 degrees one day to only mid 60s two days later) we still made the most of our time.

One morning Caleb and PeePaw went for donuts...

and then to the park.

They are such buddies and have the best time together.

Erin & Tyler

This past Friday night we went to my cousin Erin's wedding. It was so beautiful and SO hot. Record setting temperatures for September...an outdoor wedding...water bottles...frozen grapes...sweaty, sweaty guests...But, it was still a perfect evening. Erin's dress was stunning and she arrived at the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage! Her colors (deep purple and bright green with touches of silver) were perfect.

Heading to the reception with her hubby!

Granny Sue looked so pretty! I can only hope I look and feel this good at 93!

My handsome date!

River Bats Game

Take me out to the ball game. Take me out to the crowd (to celebrate Ryan's birthday). Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks (and a giant snow cone with ALL the colors). I don't care if I never get back.
For it's root, root, root for the home team (Go Bats!) If they don't win it's a shame (although they'll still have a great fireworks show).
For it's 1...2...3 strikes- you're out! At the old ball game!

(A special thanks to Blair, for singing it with Caleb over and over and over again!!!)

Mmmm! Mum-Mums!

Luke ate his first (and second) Mum-Mum cracker yesterday. Actually ate isn't the best word to use...devour is more like it! He LOVED every single morsel of the Styrofoam like cracker and I was reminded that even though the box claims "No Mess!" there is always a mess after Mum-Mums.

Luke also had his 6 month well baby checkup today. Happy to report that he is one happy (no tears, even during his shots!) and healthy little (but kind of long) guy. He weighed 15 pounds, 12 ounces (30th percentile) and was 26 and 7/8 inches long (70th percentile.) We will be introducing Puffs in the next few weeks but holding off on soft, "real" foods until closer to 9 months. (Unless he sprouts a mouth full of teeth soon!)

Compare & Contrast

Because Luke is the second child, he will always be compared to his older brother, whether we like it or not. I've been guilty of grabbing Caleb's baby book to see how much he weighed at a certain age, when he hit a milestone, etc. Luke has always been about a pound smaller than Caleb was (up to this point.) Caleb sat up much earlier (as evidenced in these pictures) and had two teeth at this point. Luke was proficient at rolling earlier than Caleb and I would bet crawls much, much earlier than Caleb. (Bless Caleb's heart in the crawling department!) So while I am guilty of comparing my two boys to each other, my favorite comparison is to look at pictures, trying desperately to find a resemblance.

Boys

Last week I was even more outnumbered in my house full of boys when Jackson came over to play. They played with Legos, cars, trucks, airplanes, and even dug around in the sandbox for a while. I think a few sweet treats were eaten as well. ;)

The Ball Pit

Remember this...

Please get Luke out of the ball pit! If you do, I'll give you an extra special treat.

These pictures explain why Caleb made that offer.
While Caleb is the self proclaimed "best big brother in the whole world," he didn't like when his little brother invaded his ball pit territory. Luke on the other hand, he loved it!

Big Boy Bath

Luke LOVES his new big boy bath seat! He is able to sit up and play with Caleb and I am able to easily give both boys a bath at the same time. It's opened up a whole new world for him, and I think he's pretty happy about it!

And of course Caleb had to give it a try too!

6 Months

Luke Michael, you are 6 months old today! I can't believe you are half way to your first birthday. It seems like just yesterday that you were swaddled in your Rock & Play Sleeper next to our bed, eating every three hours. Luke, words cannot describe the blessing that you have been to our family. We love you so much!

Right now you are on a great schedule! You wake up each morning around 7 am and go to sleep each night around 7 pm. You nap for a total of about 4 hours a day, usually taking two two-hour naps. Sometimes you'll take a third, early evening nap if the first two are cut short. You also wake up happy now, and I love hearing you "talk" and "sing" in your crib. It is precious! You eat 4 times a day (7:30 am, noon, 4, & 7 pm) and sometimes a 5th time around 3 or 4 am. I don't mind that feeding because it means you'll sleep later in the morning. ;) You are also eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your favorite foods include oatmeal, sweet potatoes, squash, applesauce, pears, and prunes. You refuse to eat green beans, peas, or homemade avocado, although we continue to keep working on that.

You love your Exersaucer and Jumperoo, but lately you have really started to love playing on the floor. You roll around and will spend a lot of time on your tummy. Over the last week you have also been able to sit up without throwing up, which is great! I'm sure you'll be sitting on your own before long!
You love your passie and are able to take it out of your mouth, play with it, and put it back in (most of the time.) You have also started to pass it back and forth between hands. At night I've started giving you a second passie to hold in your hand and you seem to like that. Speaking of sleeping...I am happy to report that you sleep 99% of the time without being swaddled. Every now and then (when I want to ensure a long nap) I will swaddle you and you LOVE it. It is very obvious that you would prefer to be swaddled still!

At your 2 month check up I asked the doctor if it was normal that you were already drooling. He assured me it was okay, and that you were probably not teething. He was right. At this point you are an absolute drooling machine with zero teeth to show for it. Mostly all you have are red cheeks and a light rash on your neck and chest from always being wet. I try to always keep you dry- new bibs and frequent outfit changes, but it's never enough! You also chew on everything, including your fingers, hands, and toes so I assume that it won't be that long before your first tooth makes an appearance.

The funniest thing about you at 6 months is how you growl when you are mad. Instead of crying when you are ready to eat, sick of an activity, or just want to be picked up you growl. Now, if a few minutes of growling pass and your need has yet to be met, then you will begin to cry. It's so cute though, and much easier on the ears!

Happy SIX months, sweet boy!

If I could freeze time and keep you like this forever I would!

It's a Blogger!

My brother Luke always teases me when I take pictures and comments, That's a blogger. This time, it's about him. This summer he and his friends (most of whom he plays basketball with) made a trick shot video. It's crazy! I can't believe some of the things they did and I love how during the credits it says Thanks to all the parents who let us on their roofs. Ha! I guess with two boys of my own I should get used to this kind of stuff...

Check if out if you have a few minutes. Definitely entertaining!
