The Pumpkin Patch

86 degrees and sunny...not your ideal pumpkin pickin'
weather, but it was a great day!

Today we went to Huber's along with the Durst family.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch, went on a hay ride to the
pumpkin patch, and picked a perfect pumpkin. The
kids were great and loved being outside. It will
definitely become an annual tradition!

The following picture is from when we got back to
Matt & Nikki's house. Apparently Caleb didn't want
to get his dirty feet on Madalyn's exersaucer. Too
funny!

I'll show her

That's what Caleb said tonight!

Caleb is a great sleeper- I can't complain. However,
he still takes a nap (about 45 min. to an hour) between
most feedings. According to my sleep books, most
babies his age are transitioning from 3 naps to 2 longer
naps each day. Caleb still takes four (shorter) naps. (I
know all babies are different and you can't go strictly "by
the book," but two long naps would make life easier. And,
I also know Caleb hasn't read the book.)

Well, my plan today was to eliminate his early evening
nap. While I was cooking dinner, I put him in his high chair
so he could play with his toys (and watch Wheel of Fortune-
his favorite) in the kitchen with me. The following pictures
explain it all- he sure showed me!

Even the tray coming off didn't wake him.

**For those of you that know my child and are in shock
and disbelief right now...I am right there with you! This
is sooooo out of character for Caleb. Normally when he
is sleepy he becomes extremely fussy and if you don't
put him in his bed it turns into an all out screamfest.
Apparently he isn't as predictable as we all thought. As
my Mom says, "He is changing so much every day."

I'd rather watch TV

I've realized that if I don't want Caleb to watch TV,
I have to turn it off. Even the Exersaucer doesn't keep
his attention when the TV is on. (That viewing position
can't be comfortable!)

Storytime

In the last few weeks, Caleb has decided that he enjoys
reading books. He loves looking at the pictures and we
can usually get through at least two or three before he is
finished. Currently, his two favorites are "Where is Baby's
Belly Button" and "Ten Little Ladybugs." On most nights,
we try to include this in his bedtime routine-
bath, book, food, and bed. (Creed refers to this as the 4
B's...you can figure it out!)

I've decided...

I REALLY like my Exersaucer!

"Ohhh, my very own cell phone!"

Superman

Caleb loves to fly and pretend he is Superman.
We only play this game if it has been a while since
he has eaten- He hasn't spit up on me yet, although
I'm sure it is just a matter of time. As you can see
from his expressions in the pictures, he really likes
it!

Undecided...

Yesterday we (actually I since Creed was at work) put
Caleb's Exersaucer together. (And let me tell you...it
wasn't easy!) I had high expectations of Caleb loving
it- smiling, laughing, etc. Unfortunately, he is still
undecided on whether or not he likes it. The pictures
explain it all- he was very interested in all the new toys,
but no real excitement yet.

Fridays at Grandmom's

Caleb loves spending Fridays at his Grandmom's
house while Mommy & Daddy are at work. Last
week he got to try out his jumper there for the first
time. Apparently it was a hit!

This is soooo fun!

This is why I'm already rotten!

Ham Days

One thing that Creed has always talked about from his
childhood was going to the annual Country Ham Days
festival in Lebanon. (Creed's Dad grew up in Lebanon
and much of his family still lives there.) So, we decided
that Caleb (& I) should experience Ham Days as well.
Creed enjoyed the country ham breakfast and we all
enjoyed walking around and seeing all that Ham Days
had to offer, which included a hay bale throwing contest!
We are all looking forward to going back next year.

Getting love from Aunt Karen

Caleb couldn't stop smiling at Peanuts.

Caleb loved visiting with Daddy Joe & Ivy
