May

6th grade online learning from the cabin...

The first Saturday of May... with Derby postponed to September, we were ready for some fun on the lake. We were cracking up that Caleb was tubing without a wetsuit while Luke wore a full body one in the boat!

The boys explored an island and then realized they were surrounded by geese protecting their nests.

May 2020 church looked like this...

Back at the waterfall the next day...the water was so much warmer back in this creek that the boys didn't mind it.

Monday morning school work

We social distanced during dinner with friends and their new puppy.

Luke's sweet teacher surprised him with a last day of school bucket of goodies. He had a fantastic 3rd grade year, thanks to Mrs.Chrisman.

And just like that, he submitted his last assignment in Google Classroom and turned into a 7th grader!

School's Out For Summer!!!!

Guess who got up on the surf board?!!! Go Lukey Babe! He was so proud of himself!

Luke also has become VERY interested in snakes and tries to find some each time we are at the cabin. He watches Youtube videos and is learning all that he can about them.

Caleb flew his drone down to Grandmom and she sent it back with a bag full of goodies.

One of our friends got a new boat and we went out on an evening dam run to celebrate.

The last weekend of May PeePaw and Uncle Matt came to town and the boys stayed with them while Creed and I went to the lake. Grandma Beth sent Luke thousands of baseball cards she found when cleaning out her basement.

Creed and I had lunch at Marina Rowena, the new marina on the Cumberland, and enjoyed our meal with an incredible view!

April (from 6ft. away)

April 2020...
As Covid 19 continued to spread, we stayed home from school, work, and even church. Our family is pretty good at "social distancing," hence the cabin in the woods, but even we got a little stir crazy at times. We tried to break up our weeks- half at our house (so Creed could still go to work a few days) and half at the cabin.

We've also tried to keep the prospective that we will (most likely) never again have the opportunity to spend this much time together, so we're trying to make the most of it.

At some point, during all the madness, I blinked and Caleb turned into a really big kid.

It was easy for the boys to social distance themselves on Lake Cumberland, as they had this island all to themselves.

Caleb's remote controlled boat has been such a hit in the creek behind our cabin!

Lots of baseball games in the field...

Easter

This Easter included some IOUs for when we can actually go shopping. ;)

Church these days...

Easter egg scavenger hunt

On Easter we had three Zoom calls with each side of our family- it was GREAT to see everyone!

Five weeks in and the boys are loving school at home. And, they are doing a fantastic job keeping up.

Our mornings...

then our afternoons...

The boys are getting along so well...every now and then they will have it out. But, for the most part, this time has been so sweet for them. They are in the middle of a Star Wars movie marathon, watching each movie in chronological order.

Luke did his historical hero project on a Zoom call with his class.

These two took the rubber boat out fishing for crappie and landed this monster...a 38" stripper that Luke named Goliath. We told Luke that he could name him, but we were still going to eat it. :)

The boys each got to shoot a rifle for the first time with Grandpa.

The boys have spent hours each day riding their bicycles so we decided it was time for Luke to get an upgrade! He loves his new bike!
