October

With the unseasonably warm temperatures at the start of October, we spent five days at the cabin for fall break...and it was perfection!

When drove down late Tuesday night, and after being at school all day, little just couldn't make it.

Tubing on a Wednesday in October was ideal- we had the lake to ourselves!

The lake dropped to winter pool early this season with the drought and we saw parts of the lake we've never seem before.

Surfing as the sun goes down

We ran to Conley Bottom on Thursday to see how they are restoring the marina after the fire and just had to get an ice cream.

We had the lake to ourselves on the way back so we got in quite a few surf runs.

Friday we decided to visit Cumberland Falls. It was about a 45 minute drive from the cabin, but worth it!

On the way back from the Falls, we stopped at The Goodie Shack in Burnside to introduce the boys to our favorite treat- an upside down banana split

and then decided to have lunch at Lees Ford Marina.

Saturday was another perfect lake day!

This is my I'm so happy to be on the lake in October face.

The boys spent a good hour walking around and exploring this island. The landscape is just so crazy with the water level so low! Can you spot the boys?

That night we went into Russel Springs for a concert.

It was pretty cool to see Thompson Square this close!

The rain came Sunday so we decided to visit Mammoth Cave on the way home.

And, since Luke loves rocks and minerals, we stopped for some gem mining too.

Creed was sweet and took me to see Thomas Rhett at the Yum Center.

Boys...Luke and his friend Porter had an afternoon play date.

The boys got Uncle Matt and Uncle Drew's old shorty wet suits, which meant they were able to tube mid-October.

Luke and Creed caught some minnows in the creek with a cast net and then took the rubber boat out fishing one afternoon.

Last surf runs of the season...

Luke loves comics and while Caleb had his piano lesson, we went to a comics store so he could pick out another one.

Middle school spirit week...Albert Einstein on Time Travel Tuesday

and a VSCO girl on Squad Day.
(There were 5 other 6th grade boys with scrunchies up their arms that day!)

Award's Chapel

Halloween cupcakes with neighbors

Happy Halloween!
A T-Rex and a Fortnite skin.

While they were only out about an hour, they still managed to score a serious amount of candy.

September

September was so GOOD to us.
With temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s, and blue, sunny skies, we were able to get in a lot of lake time.

We had Erika and her family down Labor Day weekend, and Ava stayed an extra day to go to Somersplash with us.

Luke and Jake are the sweetest. Jake lives two houses down from us and these two are always up to something. Making potions are their new thing...

Mid-September and 90, yes!
Luke got in some wakeboarding

and Caleb tried the wake skate for the first time. He also got up his first time...this kid can do anything on the water!

We also got in quite a few surf runs.

The new mid-engine Corvette made a stop at Bachman so we checked it out after school.

Mornings at the cabin are perfect for Caleb to practice his archery.

Happy Birthday, Claire!

We spent the last weekend of September on the houseboat tied up in a cove for the annual "Chili Cookoff." Caleb and I rode out Friday night and then Luke and Creed came Saturday late afternoon.

We were up early walking the shoreline, attempting to find a spot that had cell service.

Afternoon wing contest

Caleb was the official vote counter for the wing contest, as well as the chili cookoff that evening. He took his job very serious and did a great job announcing the winner that night.

Little brother helped that night by passing out the trophy.

August

In August we tried out our new rubber boat that PeePaw gave us. It is the perfect boat to go back and forth between Jamestown and State Dock.

I had to work the first week of August so the boys went with Marsha and Papa to visit PeePaw and Grandma Beth at their lake house. Then...

August 14th came WAY TOO SOON...
6th Grade

3rd Grade

"Smile."

"Show me how you feel about school starting."

After school...both boys are having an awesome year and LOVE their classes, which we are so thankful for!

Since Caleb was at the lake during the 6th grade orientation, he didn't get to organize his locker. I ended up grabbing him a few shelves and helped him get it organized one afternoon. I doubt it looks like this today...

We went to a friend's housewarming at the lake and this is their view:

This came home after the first week. Sweet boy. :)

We soaked up as much time at Somersplash as we could in August.

Caleb brought his friend Andrew to the lake one weekend. They have been in class together since two-day 2s preschool.

My kitchen window at the cabin... It really is our Happy Place.
