March 2018

The first weekend of March Grandmom and Grandpa kept the boys so Creed and I could head up to Cincinnati. Our goal was to hit up IKEA and get our big pieces of furniture for the cabin. We rode in STYLE in the ProMaster. ;)

The ProMaster was full...the signs of a successful trip. :)

By Saturday night we had made the trip to Jamestown and ate our first dinner on the floor, using an IKEA box as our table. Our main goals that night were to put together our bed and the sofa.

Coffee the next morning...on our sofa!

Sunday we managed to put together our dresser, bedside table, and the guest bed, along with some smaller pieces of furniture.

I was able to chaperone Luke's field trip to the Science Center.
Luke, with his best friends, Tey and Porter

Uncle Luke and Aunt Bri gifted Luke a punching bag for his birthday and he LOVES to "do his training" with it.

Creed and some guys from work went to Colorado to ski...for 24 hours. They few out Saturday late afternoon, skied all day Sunday, and then flew home late Sunday night.

On March 12th, we said good-bye to our Rhett Butler.
It was SO MUCH HARDER than any of us had anticipated. Rhett had been blind since before Luke was born, but recently lost his hearing as well, which really made him very nervous and very, very confused. His quality of life went down so fast over the last month that I just couldn't watch him suffer any longer.

Mr. Rhett would have been 15 years old this July...

On Saturday March 17th, we brought the boys to the cabin for the first time to see it (mostly) furnished...

The Main Living Area

The Boys' Loft

The boys, especially Caleb, were thrilled. They kept thanking us for everything and told us over and over how much they love it. :) We are so excited to make lots of memories...

That weekend we went to the dam and were blown away with how much water was moving through those flood gates...

We also checked out the fish hatchery...

and let Uncle Rick give us a few fly fishing lessons. (Creed's Uncle Rick and Aunt Sharon own a cabin at the bottom of the hill from us so we will be seeing lots more of them!)

We got just over 8 inches of snow at our house on March 21st and welcomed in spring with another snow day.

Each time that we visit the cabin we try out local restaurants and Betty's OK Country Cooking was a hit for breakfast!

February 2018

We were SO thankful that Marshma and Papa only spent two weeks in Florida this winter.

While Creed spent a few days in skiing in Whistler, these two camped out in my room. Little was pumped to be sleeping on Daddy's side of the bed!

While Caleb preferred an air mattress on the floor. :)

Pretty cool skiing by the Olympic rings!

Caleb played the piano during the offering at one of his school's chapel services.

The same chapel service he played The Good Samaritan in his class's program.

Go carting at Malibu Jacks.

The week of Luke's birthday, and just three days before his party, he started running a fever. Because three of his classmates had the flu that week, we were super nervous. Thankfully, it was strep so he was up and running and two doses of the antibiotic.

On the 25th, Luke had his 7th birthday and we celebrated at House of Boom!

Grandma Beth and PeePaw surprised Luke with a weekend visit and she was sweet enough to tackle my Peeps into Pikachu project!

Luke has most of his classmates, along with some cousins and a few neighborhood friends. It was a great party!

With Jake and Tey

All he wanted that night was to sleep with Hallie. (I spent the next day lint rolling his comforter.)
Happy Birthday, sweet boy!
Even though you are SEVEN, you are still our Lukey Baby.

January 2018

In January we found the perfect lake house for us..
However, we decided that calling it a "lake house" is a little misleading...it's our "little cabin near the lake." ;) With two bedrooms and a loft for the boys, it's perfect for us. And, it's less than ten minutes from Jamestown Marina at Lake Cumberland!
The view from the back deck:

Let it snow!
January 12th was our first official snow day!

Creed and I spent an evening out in downtown and stayed at 21c, which we loved!

January 16th and 17th were our 2nd (and 3rd) snow days.

How I feel about cleaning up all the snow gear...

Both boys played Upward basketball this winter and loved it. Uncle Luke coached Luke's team, which was extra great!
