First Swim Meet

We signed the boys up for swim team this year...a little bit against their wishes. Neither had taken a lesson in years, and both had regressed in their abilities because the main pool where we go is only waist deep. I explained that not only would they become better swimmers, but they would meet new friends on swim team, so they both (kinda) agreed to get it a try this summer.

When we got the heat sheet we found that Caleb was scheduled to swim in EIGHT races, including two strokes he doesn't even know yet. (Thankfully, an hour and a half rain delay caused the meet to end early...before Caleb had to swim butterfly!)

Warm ups

Their first event was a mixed age relay, so when Luke finished his 25 free, Caleb took over for the next leg. Caleb had an easy job, as Luke really pulled away from the other swimmers. The best part...once Luke climbed out of the pool the first thing he asked for was his ribbon. Ha! Their relay did win a blue ribbon for 1st place!

The rest of the meet went really well. Luke came in 4th place in the 25 freestyle and Caleb came in 2nd place in 25 backstroke and 4th place in the 50 freestyle. (He won his heat in 50 free, so that was exciting for him!)

While swim team is A LOT of work (especially for parents!), I am hoping the season continues to go well and both boys become more confident swimmers. And make friends. ;)

A dentist in the making?

He cracks me up.
I can't imagine anyone loving a dental cleaning more than this kid!

Recently...

On Mother's Day, this sweetie brought me breakfast in bed. I loved his presentation.

Blessed to be their Momma!

Sunny and mid-80s meant we spent Mother's Day afternoon at the lake!

The boys are doing swim team this summer, and this was their first (of I'm sure many!) fast food dinners before a swim team meeting.

LEGO crazy

While Creed was away on a business trip, Caleb had one of his friends spend the night. They had Chinese for dinner, Blizzards for dessert, and then Cracker Barrel the following morning. :)

Little brother slept with me that night since Caleb had a friend and when I came to bed, this is how I found him!

Memorial Day weekend at the lake

Chilly swim practice morning

The boys brought their neighborhood friends, Barrett and Colin, to the lake one day last week.

A rock skipping lesson with Daddy

Marshma an Papa also spent an afternoon at the lake with us.

This past Sunday the Bachmans met us at the lake at noon and we ended up not only having lunch, but ordering Papa Johns to the marina for dinner. The kids swam and tubed ALL day...we finally had to make them stop at dusk. It was a Sunday Funday for sure! ;)

On to 1st and 4th

This past school year flew by, and now our babies are going into first and fourth grade.

At the last awards program, Caleb was excited to earn three certificates.

Luke and Mrs. Keeton at the Kindergarten Carnival.

It was a rainy and cool day so the carnival was moved indoors, but the kids didn't seem to mind one bit!

Last Day of Kindergarten
Thursday, May 25th

That night was also Luke's graduation program.

Caleb and I ran out of Luke's graduation right when it ended because we had tickets...to Eric Church! Caleb worked so hard in third grade, learning how to study independently and how to be responsible. He also rocked the Accelerated Reader program, earning a top score for vocabulary words learned. So, when one of my friends mentioned that she had two extra tickets, Creed and I decided that Caleb should get to go to his first concert!

We were in the upper level, but our seats were right on the edge, so Caleb had a great view. He loved it!

We didn't get home from the concert until 1am, but Caleb was a trooper and got up the next morning for his last day of third grade.
