Celebrating at the Lake

We spent four days, celebrating both Creed and Caleb's birthday, at Claytor Lake. The weather was the best we have ever had, which made for a great lake trip.

Caleb jumped off the high dock no less than 20 times this trip. He loves it.

We even talked little brother into jumping off. He did it twice...only because I didn't get the picture the first time. He isn't quite the dare devil that his big brother is!

Because of the beautiful weather, we were able to spend all of our time outdoors!

The boys LOVED the new hot tub! We just had to limit their time in it...they would have stayed there all day! (Luke has actually been saving money for almost a year so he could buy a hot tub. Seriously.  Even pennies he finds on the ground go to his hot tub fund. So, PeePaw told Luke it's his hot tub...which he loved!)

Uncle Drew was a good sport and took Caleb on a long kayak ride.

Creed talked Caleb into riding the surf board with him. After a few minutes Caleb said he was done and simply jumped off. :)

Luke took a solid hour nap while we surfed and then continued to snooze after we came back to the boat house. At lease he was cool and in the shade!

On Friday, June 10th, we celebrated Creed's 34th birthday with a DQ ice cream cake!

Cleaning bluegill for our annual 4th of July fish fry

The following night we celebrated Caleb's 8th birthday. How could he be eight?!!

Caleb picked out his own dessert and had the lady cover the entire cookie cake in icing!

A downer...
A really large, hard plastic cutting board fell off the sink and landed right on my toes the second day we were there. It cut my baby toe, and we are assuming broke it. My sweet husband carried me up and down the steps to the lake, and thankfully, I was able to sit around with my feet up most of the weekend. It did end my swimming and surfing for the weekend, which was a bummer. Having to limp around and walk on my heel was a big bummer too!

The handsome "dudes," as Luke would say

Normally Caleb sleeps on the bunk bed, but this trip decided to sleep on the couch in the bunk room. I think it had something to do with that sweet puppy he had cuddled up next to him each night!

LEGO KidsFest

The boys play with Legos ALL THE TIME and when we saw the advertisement for LEGO KidsFest, we knew we couldn't miss it. The boys were the perfect ages, and we all three had a really fun morning. We made it to the vast majority of the stations, had lunch, and them hit a few more. Hearing one of Lego's "Master Builders" explain how everything is made was my favorite part and we all three loved building with the giant brick pile.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend this year. It was, by far, the best weather that I can ever remember having. (In fact, we ran out of sunscreen on Memorial Day and had to replace two different tubes. I'd say that means it's been a great spring!)

Our weekend started off at Bluegrass Indoor Karting, Caleb celebrated his friend Eli's 8th birthday.

Saturday evening we went to the lake for a big summer kick-off pig roast. The band was great, the food was delicious, and the location was perfect!

The view from our boat slip. They had the band set up in the parking lot.

Little brother was pumped to get the first slice of the cake!

While the marina provided the pig, everyone brought a side dish. Caleb went through the line a second time to sample various desserts. :)

Sunday we spent the day on the water. Caleb tubed...

and Luke got in a solid two hour nap!

We spent Memorial Day at the pool.
These boys (and their momma) are loving summer...and the fun has just began!

School's Out!

The last week of school for the boys was a busy one!
We had to get one last thing checked off of Luke's pre-Kindergarten list- an eye exam. Thankfully, he didn't have any issues!

This is what happens when I have to wake up Luke from his nap for carpool

Frozen yogurt is a great idea the last week of school. :)

May 27th
The LAST day for our preschooler and second grader.

Thumbs up for SUMMER!

(How could he already be going to third grade. That is such a big grade!)

Our pool happened to open on the last day of school, so we spent the afternoon swimming.

It was the perfect ending to a great school year!

Caleb's Music

Caleb has been taking piano lessons for a little less than two years, and we are so proud of the progress that he is making. While his teacher still uses basic, instructional materials, she also gives him songs that interest him. While they are advanced, and it takes a long time for him to learn them, he is able to get it over time. Recently he has worked hard on the theme song to Star Wars and the Imperial March, and I love hearing him play them. And, I'm amazed that he has it memorized!

Luke's Preschool Graduation

On May 24th, our baby (Although he doesn't like that term anymore!) had his preschool graduation program. He did a great job! He smiled, sang, and did all of the little hand motions. It was so obvious that he was having fun!

We have been so blessed by Mrs. Thomas this year!

Colin, Luke's best friend, is in the top row, on the far left.

Luke's speaking part...He memorized the verse Luke 2:52, and while it took him a few tries to get started, he finished strong!
