Claytor Lake Weekend

We made a quick trip (3 nights) to visit PeePaw, Grandma Beth, and Uncle Matt  at the lake. It was a great long weekend and we look forward to going back soon!

Hallie spent most of the weekend retrieving toys/sticks/duck decoys from the lake. The boys loved how trained she is, although they may have made her regress slightly in her skills. ;) 

She should be sitting and staying, waiting for PeePaw's command, but when Luke would yell "Go get the duck!"she took off.  Luke thought it was hilarious.

While we were there we celebrated both Creed and Caleb's birthdays.

The Birthday Boys

Our First Week of Summer

Last week...

Monday was chilly and rainy, so we met friends for a morning at the Science Center.

Then we made a last minute decision to have lunch at Pizza King in New Albany. While the food wasn't impressive, the kids LOVED everything else. They played Mario Kart and watched cartoons while we ate.

They also loved that a little train brought drinks to the table.

On Tuesday we made homemade popcicles.

Thursday we spent the entire day at the lake. Luke was exhausted and Caleb tubed for 45 minutes while Luke slept.

While you wouldn't know from this picture, Caleb was a little off on Thursday. He had his "sick eyes," but no other symptoms. 

That afternoon we pulled the boat up on a muddy shore and the boys spent an hour exploring.

Friday morning Caleb still had his sick eyes, and even though nothing else was wrong with him, I decided to make him an appointment to see the doctor since we were heading out of town the following day. While we waited, Luke played in his sand and water table. And made a gigantic mess. :)

That morning Caleb's temperature was 99.1, but had gone back down on it's own. He kept saying he felt okay...

Who has ever heard of strep throat in June?!!

I am SO SO thankful that I took him in because he did have strep. We got him started on antibiotics and he was fine the next day. (As it turns out, the friend we had spent the day with on Monday had strep that day...she found out later that afternoon. And, she didn't have any symptoms either other than a small rash.)

School's Out for Summer!

On Friday, May 29th, the boys had their last day of school (and I had my last day of work)! 

Luke was thrilled and Caleb had some mixed emotions- he simply loves school, and knew that he would miss his teacher and friends dearly this summer. Still, it was an exciting morning!

Hard to believe he will be in SECOND grade. First was a great year, full of lots of new and exciting things (Piano lessons, speech meet, and homecoming court to name a few.) and so many wonderful memories made. 

We are so proud of you, Caleb!

Luke had a great year too! He learned to write his name and successfully had his teacher wrapped firmly around his little finger. Ha!
