June

Tilly snuggles are the best!

After all the frogs they caught in the creek this spring, Grandpa had to take the boys out to eat frog legs for their first time.

Luke got a kayak for Christmas and finally got to use it!

We had dinner on the lake and celebrated our friends' anniversary. Captain Caleb was our driver.

Ice cream from a marina just hits different.

The boys did a fun bluegill tournament one afternoon and loser had to clean all the fish. Creed and Luke teamed up on the bass boat, while Caleb went with Grandpa. The winners...

The first couple weeks of June were also spent getting the cabin packed up. I said it was like a clown car- we had SO MUCH stuff!

We outran a storm one evening and were blessed with this full rainbow after it passed.

On June 14th, Caleb turned 13 years old.

We are so proud of the young man that he has grown to be.  He is just such an awesome person. He always looks out for his brother, loves spending time with his grandparents and great-grandparents, is so musically talented, can ride any type of board on the water, and strives to always do the right thing. He loads the boat on the trailer better than most adults and mows the lawn like a champ.

His birthday this year looked a little different- we closed on the new house that morning (the house that HE found!)

and then spent the entire day moving. We did manage to find time to make a Dairy Queen run to pick up his Blizzard cake. He also picked dinner- pizza at the new house.

Our lake view from the front porch...if you look closely you can see the water through the trees. We will have to wait until winter for a real lake view.

First night in the new house- Luke loves having a bed all to himself.

Caleb wanted an electronic drum set for the house for his birthday and managed to get it all set up himself.

The boys love the couch that came with the house! Haha. They love that it reclines with the push of a button and can charge their phones.

Creed and Luke went back to Louisville the following day, but Caleb and I stayed through the week to work on the house.

We also cleaned the cabin and tearfully said good bye.

Caleb and I went to Somerset to run some errands and we had to visit the Goodie Shack for an upside down banana split while we were close. I remember getting them when I was his age!

The boys' bathroom is the only room I have "finished" at the new house.

Creed had to show the boys that he could still make the big jumps. ;)

Lily Creek

The fire pit has already been a big hit! The outdoor space at the new house really sold us. We love that it is secluded, has a deck off the front, and a screened porch off the back.

Caleb is always down for sunset boat cruises with Grandmom and Grandpa.

Cabin, Sweet Cabin

In January 2018, we found Our Happy Place, in the form of a 2 bedroom tiny cabin in Jamestown, and now we've closed that chapter of our lives to begin a new one.

Saying good-bye to the cabin was incredibly bittersweet.

It was our refuge during the spring 2020 quarantine and it entertained lots of family and friends. The cabin will always hold a special place in our hearts and bring a smile to our faces.

We had the awning over the front door built when we first bought it.

We also added the sliding glass doors, as well as the awning over it, and a bar on the back deck. The bar was the perfect place to begin the day with a cup of coffee.

With all of the natural light, it always felt bigger than it really was.

The only real downfall was that it had just one bathroom. But, we always managed to make it work.

Guest Room

The Loft
This spot was so special to the boys! Grandma made custom curtains so they slept great in total darkness each night.

We thought not having a dishwasher would be an issue but it wasn't a big deal at all!

The shared outdoor space at the cabin was incredible. The boys spent so much time exploring the area, catching toads and snakes in the creek, and fishing in the ponds. These are the fields that we played family baseball games, taught Lacey to fetch, and where Caleb learned to fly his drone. (He lost a few, too!)

Remembering March 2018...
After spending the day at IKEA, we ate dinner on the floor and then began putting furniture together. It took us an entire weekend, but we got it done.

The boys' first night in the cabin...they look like babies!

While we were not really ready to say good-bye to the cabin, a house went on the market a few miles closer to the marina and we knew we had to act. We closed on the new place and moved out of the cabin on June 14 (Happy Birthday, Caleb!).

We are so, so thankful for all the sweet memories of our time at the cabin.
