Field Trip to the Farm

Last Friday I took off work so I could go to Slow Poke Farm with Caleb and his class. I met the class there and he was all smiles after getting off the bus. School buses are apparently really exciting to kids that don't get to normally ride a bus. ;)

Caleb took his turn taking the corn off the cob. Then he fed it to the chickens.

He also fed sheep and a cow.

At the hen house, the sky opened up and it POURED down rain. Seriously hard rain...the kind that umbrellas don't help at all with. So, we ran to the barn and took cover. Sadly, half of the students (and their parents) were on the hay ride in the middle of the farm. By the time they got back it looked like they had been in the shower fully clothed. And they got right in their cars and went home. (I don't blame them one bit, either!) After the rain ended we ate a picnic lunch, and with most everyone still fairly wet, we all decided it would be best to head home (or back to school) early.
Something tells me that this may be the most memorable field trip we have...

(I am glad that we went to the farm- I will definitely take the boys there myself this summer!)

A Weekend in Lexington

A few weeks ago Creed and I spent the weekend in Lexington. We ran some errands, ate lots of really good meals, and spent the afternoon at Keeneland for the Bluegrass Stakes. Keeneland was super-crowded (We later found out that it was their second highest attendance ever) but we still loved our time there. I always forget how beautiful the track is until I see it in person.

I was so excited when I noticed the name of one of the races...
The Hill 'n' Dale
Julip Cup
Mr. & Mrs J. Sikura
I actually babysat for the Sikura family for years and couldn't help but take a picture. (I was bummed that they were out of town and we didn't get to see them!)

It was a perfect weekend. (Aside from the fact that Creed didn't hit any of the races. ;))

Our Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter this year!

Caleb was up early but we made him wait until we were up to tear into his Easter basket. The funny thing- he reminded me of all the things I forgot to put in it. Apparently I said, Maybe you'll get that in your Easter basket a few too many times recently. ;) Luke was just happy to eat candy before breakfast.

While we actually served in the nursery during the worship service at church, we still were able to attend our ABF class. Then, we had a delicious and relaxed lunch at my great-aunt and uncle's house, followed by an egg hunt for all the kiddos. After we ran home for naps (Sunday is "family nap day" at our house!), we went to Marshma and Papa's house for a cookout. The perfect day...

Their Sunday best...I think I tucked Luke's shirt in 20 times before we even got to church.

Before I knew it my boys were down in the mud sword fighting with sticks...in their Sunday best. :)

And, rolling in the grass.
(Sigh. Thankful for Stain Stick.)

Dinner at Marshma's

Caleb was so sweet with Bennett. He said, "It's like I'm the big brother." Then Bennett sneezed and Caleb practically threw him to me. Ha!

The boys!

Easter Fun

The boys loved dyeing Easter eggs this year, which was a first. (Normally I am the one that gets stuck doing it by myself.)

I showed Caleb how to make the egg two different colors and he thought that was super cool. ;)

We met cousin Ava and cousin Eli for the Frankfort Ave Easter parade on Saturday. The kids had a blast and they all got so much candy...way more than Halloween even. Crazy, but fun!

He likes to turn his hat around and say, "I a dude!"

What Easter Is All About...

One day last week, Caleb's homework assignment was to write a few sentences about what Easter is all about. His answer was simple, straight forward, but most importantly, truth.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
He was buried.
Three days later He rose.
Now He is in Heaven.

Happy Easter!

Recently...

Costumes are worn daily in our home. On this particular occasion, Caleb was a Spider Man, Daniel Boone, and Captain Hook combination.

Caroline came over and played one evening. She is so sweet and so quiet...I think these wild boys were a tad bit overwhelming. ;)

The Whitefield Weekly, Caleb's school newspaper, had some exciting Alumni News...
Yep, Uncle Luke and Briana are engaged!

While Luke loves to color with markers, adult supervision is necessary. A few moments later I caught him drawing "roads" up and down his arm.

Our Last Day in NC

For our last day, we headed back to Greensboro to visit the Greensboro Children's Museum. It was absolutely amazing. It is designed like a town and had all the businesses and things a town would have. We can't wait to go back next year!

After we pulled the kids from the museum (they did NOT want to leave!) we walked across the street and had a yummy lunch at an outdoor cafe.

When we got back home, this handsome guy surprised us with a visit...We love Uncle Drew!

*****
Thankfully, our drive home was uneventful. The boys were awesome (Caleb had one slight meltdown when he thought he left his Nintendo DS at their house but I pulled over and found it- Whew!) and we were so happy to see Creed.

Thank you, thank you, thank you PeePaw and Grandma Beth for such an awesome spring break. We all had a blast and can't wait to do it again!
